I can't really say I'm for or against what anybody wants to do to their own body. I will say that I think some of it is rather silly and I wish people would think it through a bit further before they did it (like gauging ears, something my neice and nephew both want to do but my sister won't let them). No matter how you think of or see yourself, anything that other people can see is going to affect you for the rest of your life.

That being said, I'm rather fond of certain kinds of surface piercings and I find the corset piercings strangely arousing.

But eyeball tattoing? Fuck that. That spice definitely must not flow.

I don't really care as long as it's not tongue splitting or ear stretching.

Human tongues are too fat to look cool split and ear stretching- I wanna say I think is icky to me, but I really don't think that is correct to say. I think a better explanation is that it looks as though if you walked to close to low hanging trees that a mere twig could rip your earlobe apart thereby making you look like a rather foolish person.

I think in general though... it's your body. I hope you think whatever it is through but it beats poisoning yourself yet people do that all the time whilst pointing fingers at pierced weirdos.

I think if you are going to do body modification though, it would make the most sense to give yourself something useful... like a yo-yo that is attached to your finger.

Now, people who are reading this might say "What in the world is so useful about a yo-yo?"

... and I say "Think of all the waiting in line you have to do"

makes about as much sense as the rest of this stuff.

When I was about 20 I got my belly button pierced. That was enough for me. And it wasn't long before I decided I didn't want it anyway.

...This is exactly how I feel about it. To me stuff like tattoos and basic piercings, that falls under the category of body adornment and although I wouldn't do a lot of the piercing stuff (especially the corset stuff, that looks stupid as hell to me), I'm less adverse to it because it's stuff that can be undone, it's not permanent. With tattoos I love them but I think people should give it way more thought and be way more selective about what they choose to have tattooed onto their bodies; every time I see people with dumb logos or stupid shit I feel a weird combination of pity and wanting to slap them like "What the fuck were you thinking?".

But stuff like tongue-splitting, the dermal piercings and ear-stretching...I forgot about tooth shaving too...stuff like that I consider more along the lines of actual self-mutilation and masochism. And what bothers me the most is that it's usually really young people having this stuff done. They love it now and think they'll always want it, but we all know we change alot over the course of our lives.
