The 13 Most Disgusting Ways to Save Money in 2008!

spacer
Sometimes it seems like people will do just about anything to save a little money. Whether it is only buying things second hand, mending the holes in a pair of socks or sneaking Coke into the movie theater, people can get really creative in order to keep those few extra Quid in their pocket. Most people have a line that they will not cross. No matter how much money they may be able to save, they will not compromise their morals or integrity for money. On the other hand, there are people who have no problem taking a wild leap over that line. This is for those of you who will literally stop at nothing to save a little money.

1) Make Clothes Out of Your Dead Pets – Save £50 ($92) per year

dead dog jumpers

A married pair from the UK removed the fur from their dead dogs and then knitted them into woolly sweaters. They said that dog fur makes excellent wool because it is “warm and waterproof”!

2) DIY Operations on Your Pets – Save £300 ($552) per year

We all know that vets are expensive, the average annual vet bill in the UK is now £300 ($552). So some sick people are doing DIY operation on their own pets! For example, Griffith John Prosser, 35, admitted two charges of c... suffering to an animal and performing veterinary surgery while unregistered. He performed a DIY amputation on his dog’s leg after being told the procedure would cost hundreds of pounds. Luckily he was reported to the police and banned from keeping animals for 10 years!

3) DIY Dentistry – Save £302 ($561) per year

Some crazy people are getting so short of money that they pulling their own teeth out with pliers, gluing crowns back in with super glue, and even drilling cavities and filling them with a home kit of zinc oxide powder and eugenol, which can be brought online. You will save money but of course if you mess it up, and leave a fragment of a broken tooth remaining, and you risk abscess and infection.

4) Under Pay Staff – Save £15,420 ($28,683) a year

liz hurley

When you are as rich as Elizabeth Hurley and her multi-millionaire husband, Arun Nayar, it is disgusting to pay your house maid only $2.33 an hour. The house maid in question, Violet D’Souza, then filed legal papers for paying her below the minimum wage which is £5.50 ($10.21) in the UK where she worked.

5) Wash Your Clothes Once a Week – Save $100 a year

dirty pants

It might sound disgusting not washing your clothes after just one wear, but think about it, most people don’t do dirty job, don’t do physical work, and we live in clean houses and work in clean offices. So there is no need to wash your clothes every time you wear them. But not washing them for a week is stretching it a bit too far for me.

6) Only Flush the Toilet Once a Day – Save £50 ($92) a year

toilet

Water is becoming more precious and certainly more expensive. According to a recent article the average family uses 75,000 gallons of water a year just flushing the toilet! So why cut back your water usage and save some money at the save time, “if it’s yellow, let it mellow”. But if you are braver, only flush the toilet once a day!

7) Cut Back on Showers – Save £100 ($184) a year

sweaty arm pits

Did you know you use over 50 gallons of water every time you take a shower? Save some money by taking a shower every other day, or when you roommate or spouse complains that you smell like a rotten butt. Also consider going soap-less and shampoo-less for a truly authentic Parisian experience.

8.) Save on the Washing Clothes, Go Commando! – Save $127 a year

go commando

Listen up soldier! I bet your momma told you to change your underwear every day. Now listen here Jimmy, you tell your momma that nobody see’s your underwear, they don’t smell it and they sure as hell don’t know if you are wearing it! So if you plan on saving a few dimes to take your sissy out for a snack, I suggest you leave the underwear off and go commando!

9) Buy Natty Light – Save 50% of you beer expenditure

natty beer

You know those beautiful Heineken commercials that give you flashbacks of ice-cold golden beer with flavor and a smooth finish? Yeah, well you can forget about all that. We’re talking Natty Light here and flavor isn’t a word to describe it; piss water would be more exact. But with a twelve pack running the same cost as a sixer of Heni – you can bet this is the bargain deal.

10) DIY Operations (castration) – Save zero in the UK (operations are free on the national health) Save thousands in the USA

diy operation

This crazy, crazy man did his own castration, becuase he wanted to become a women. Unbelievably he only used a normal kitchen knife and rubber bands to complete the operation at home. He said, “It was absolute agony but I did it because I had to.” He did actually do it to save money, but because doctors were taking to long. That has gotta hurt, a LOT! Ouch!

11) Dumpster Dive – Save up to thousands per year!

dumpster diving

No places to sample where you live? Well make like a hobo and dive in that garbage can. You’d be surprised at what some restaurants will throw away. Did you know that it’s mandatory that a restaurant separate their edible garbage from un-edible garbage? I bet you didn’t, don’t tell me I never gave you anything. Just don’t do it on a sweltering day, or you will be digging through smelly and rotting garbage.

12) Eat your Pets – Save, not a lot!

eat your pet

If you’re really down on your luck and old sparky is looking tastier than baby back ribs, well grill em up! It might sound horrible, and it is, but in some other countries they eat animals which we class as pets. For example, it is well known that Peruvians eat guinea pig, and in South Korea they eat dogs and cats. Or, if you’re like this couple, hold your pet for ransom and hope that people pay.

13) Split Your 2 ply Toilet Paper into 1 Ply of Toilet Paper – Save 50% on your toilet paper purchases per year

1 ply toilet paper

Sound disgusting, but some people do it, see this video about the cheapest man in Amercia. He also collects ketchup and mustard packets from restaurants, so doesn’t have to buy them. And even reuses paper towels by washing it and letting it out to dry, up to 5 times!

I have been thinking of taking my daughter off my health insurance once she turns 18, it would save me a little over $100 a month if I did but I just can't do it lol
