Now that's a great example of a fantastic T.V host + T.V show.

I'm sorry I liked the Arsenio Hall Show, but he wasn't the best host. The reason being that Arsenio would ask a question to a guest, that they just answered a sentence before. Arsenio just wouldn't/didn't listen to the guests (a lot of the time). So, his interview skills are my issue. I love the format of the show though.

Meh, it's not 20/20 and his interviewing style didn't bother me. Tavis Smiley is THE worst interviewer and on a "news" show that kinda style is actually detrinental. But Arsenio is still a 1000 times better than Monique and ALL of the people who have since gotten late night shows and he was genuinely funny. He could be hood, but never ghetto, and still articulate so he appealed to a wide range of folks. Shit Monique annoys BLACK people so you know her reach was gonna be limited. I think Arsenio was really a fan of a lot of his guests and was visibly exuberant which prolly affected his interviews. But I don't think that's a bad a thing and I don't remember anyone complaining about it at the time.

This had to be the coolest interview on late night ever. Love how the audience would laugh JUST because Eddie would laugh.

I know ....with his all gums-smiling, shoulder pad suit wearing, big butt self ......He really was the talk show host for the MTV generation....He once said "I'm an entertainer not a tough interviewer".....He got the job done imo.

I agree. Its rare to get that from a talk show these days. It leaves a lot of talented people out. That otherwise wouldn't be heard..
