Questions about "GIRLS GONE WILD"

How on earth did Joe Francis ever convince girls to strip naked and get on video for FREE?

Why are these videos still still being advertised and I guess...making money?

Do you think they portray American women in a negative light?

Would it matter to you if the franchise was started by a woman?

Discuss. coffee sans pretzel

I didn’t even flash at Mardi Gras (when I was young and silly and drinking) and there were no cameras around. I have no idea what possesses young women to do this. It’s really ridiculous.

Alcohol and daddy issues are a horrible combination.

Why are these videos still still being advertised and I guess...making money?

Some people are too scared to buy real porn which btw you can buy actual porn for $9.99 at your local adult video shop. It's not good porn but it's the real deal.

Do you think they portray American women in a negative light?

I think it makes women look really intelligent. confused

Would it matter to you if the franchise was started by a woman?

No.

yeahthat

I've never flashed, yet alone take off everything, no matter how drunk or silly I was. I don't even like being photographed when I'm drunk because a drunk & wasted look is not a good look. lol

Basically, he was at a spring break party in Cancun when he saw a bunch of drunken college girls flashing their tits at some wet t-shirt contest, and he saw some people filimg the event on camcorder. He got an idea biggrin idea to do it himself, and he shot some video and converted it to videotape. He then rented a booth at the AVN convention where he marketed the videos as "girls next door getting wild", only expecting to sell a few tapes while most everyone else went fot the hardcore porn. Much to his surprise, he sold out of his videos rather quickly and had to take rain checks for all the other people wanting copies. He then realized he had a cash cow on his hands, and the rest is history.

1. Is it always for free? I'm not sure that is the case. Like, don't they at least get a t-shirt or something? falloff

2. Why wouldn't they be if they are still making money? He didn't get busted for making the videos, only for not being smart enough to be sure all the women were of legal age. Since the amount of money he'd made was public knowledge during the court case (and it was A LOT), I'd say he's got a pretty solid audience who is interested in this type of content.

3. I don't. I don't think any porn portrays any women in any particular light. Those women made a choice - they decided to take their clothes off and get sexual. Regardless of the fact that I actually like some porn, I'm not here to judge anybody for doing anything they want to do, so long as its not hurting somebody else. I love our freedom and I want it to stay that way.

4. Nah. The videos would probably be better if they were made by a woman. Abby Winters, anyone? lol

falloff at that boob emoticon

Ok so tell me how he gets away with not paying these females who are clearly drunk and might not otherwise agree to be filmed if they were of sound mind.

Shiit, I could do that.....with boys.....or groups of people. I mean there isn't just one kind of soda pop so why can't I get in on this deal and make it classy? lol

They sign waivers. And I'm still not sure all of them are doing it for free. Maybe in the beginning, but not always.

that is what I wonder. Do they need to sign something? Or maybe there is a disclaimer somewhere that says "you may be filmed in here"

Signed waivers were admitted as evidence during his trial.

I vaguely remember the reports about his trial. Wait...which trial? Didn't he have two? One where he was a victim (home invasion shit) and one where he was the accused (some politician's daughter was on one of Francis's videos).

I think there's been a lot of them, actually. lol And I will recant what I said earlier, as doing even a small bit of research makes it clear that all of them are NOT signing waivers. I've only seen one or two short sections of his videos and it always seemed to me like there was "reality" sections and staged sections intercut with each other. I believe the trial I'm thinking of involved one of the staged sections and related to the girl being under age. That is the one where signed waivers (and I believe false ID's) were submitted as evidence. But I just found this, which is very recent and relates to a "reality" portion (I don't know what else to call them). It seems clear this woman did not approve of being filmed OR sign a release form. So shrug I don't know. The video I saw had some guys offering t-shirts for a flash and/or a host talking them into exposing themselves cut into the staged scenes. It didn't show anybody having their clothes pulled off.

'Girls Gone Wild' attorneys fight new trial for St. Charles County woman

BY VALERIE SCHREMP HAHN • vhahn@post-dispatch.com > 314-621-5804 STLtoday.com | Posted: Monday, June 27, 2011

http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/article_ec3fa84c-a0f7-11e0-9d1d-001a4bcf6878.html

ST. LOUIS • The makers of the "Girls Gone Wild" video series are taking a case to the Missouri Court of Appeals, complaining that a woman who sued them in St. Louis Circuit Court shouldn't have been granted a new trial.

Last summer, jurors rejected the woman's claim that the producers of the video damaged her reputation by showing her tank top being pulled down by another person in a Laclede's Landing bar.

In November, Circuit Judge John J. Riley granted a new trial, saying their finding was against the weight of the evidence.

Lawyers for the defendants, Mantra Films Inc. and MRA Holding LLC, filed an appeal earlier this month, saying that they are expecting to raise the issue of whether the trial court abused its discretion in granting the new trial.

The woman's attorney, Stephen Evans, said the motion wasn't unexpected and he thought the appeals court would have a decision in five or six months.

The woman, identified in court documents as Jane Doe, was 20 when she went to the former Rum Jungle Bar, where the incident happened in 2004. The woman sued in 2008, after a friend of her husband's told her that she was in one of the videos. She and her husband and children live in the St. Charles area.

In his finding granting the new trial, Riley wrote: "It is clear from viewing the video that plaintiff was an unwilling participant in the exposure of her breasts, and she can be seen visibly mouthing 'no' and she immediately covered herself up after her top was pulled down, " he wrote. "It is apparent that plaintiff did not consent to her bare breasts being filmed and used by defendants."

Is it valid when you signed a weaver when really drunk?

Were you competent to sign at that moment and able to oversee the consequences of your act?

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

They aren't all drunk and its hard to prove how drunk someone was after the fact. But I don't actually know the legal answers to those questions. I believe you are responsible for your own actions unless it can be proven that you were forcibly made to drink/take drugs, or were drugged without your knowledge.

good question, but I think peace treaties are signed over drinks, I don't think alcohol negates a contract

I haven't read the thread yet so if someone already said it, sorry, but...

I'm pretty sure a lot of those girls in those vids are drunk and/or high.

And college students are wild anyway, especially on student break. So there's no way he had to do a lot of 'convincing' to get them to do that shit.
