I just ran into some folks over at the CNN building who told me that the Monique Show was cancelled. Has anyone else heard this? ????

i loved mo'nique in precious ("you's a dumb bitch, go on down to the welfare") and even the parkers was alright, but her show kinda sucks, so...

Did anyone actually watched it?

It is no worse than Conan.

I don't watch talk show in general, Wendy's is about the only one and even I don't watch her regularly so I hardly ever watched Monique's, I don't think it was any different than anybody else's, I think talk shows in general require a of type consistant audience that only a few people can cater to. Interviewing stars who are pretty much blowing smoke up each others ___ gets a little old after a minute.

That's the word on the street even tho MTO is the only one reporting it so I'd take it with a grain

The rumors have been flying rampantly that Oscar winner Mo'Nique's late night show on BET had been canceled. I figured something was going on when it was constantly being interrupted for other shows.

Well, blogger Rodney Ho over at the AJC.com is confirming that the rumors are in fact true. Gossip website Mediatakeout was the first to break the story. Mediatakeout reported that ratings had nothing to do with why the show was being canceled but rather there was a clash of personalities who couldn't put their egos aside and continue to do good work. Although at times I found Mo'Nique's 'baby' annoying, i have to admit I liked the show. Tell me what other show would you see a 'Five Heartbeats' reunion? You damn sho' not going to see it on Letterman or Leno. She would also feature musical acts that you haven't seen in years, but you still sang there songs. That was 'The Mo'Nique Show' and I am definitely sad to see it go.

Used to watch in the beginning but her intros with her loud ass yelling annoyed the heck outta me.....I would only watch if someone I liked was on...but it's been a while since I did that...That's too bad for fans of her show.

Earlier today, I heard that “The Mo’Nique Show” had been axed. I had sent an email out to various BET publicists to ask what was up. No word back.

At about 1:30 p.m., I called Rodney Perry, who was Mo’Nique’s sidekick on the show. He said he was running into a meeting and didn’t answer my question. While I was at lunch over at the mall court, at 1:40 p.m. EST, he texted me: “I was told indefinite hiatus.”

That’s a euphemism for canceled.

In an interview I did at 2:40 p.m., the stand-up comic said he enjoyed the experience working with Mo’Nique. “I’m selling out shows now,” he said. “That’s a win.” He heard the news from Mo’Nique’s husband but hasn’t spoken to the Oscar-winning actress yet. (He wouldn’t say when he knew about this, implying he has known for awhile.)

“We did some good work,” Perry said. “And I think the show is significant. There hasn’t been an outlet for people of color late night since Arsenio.”

The talk show, which Mo’Nique compared to a high-energy nightly party, lasted two seasons and had been taped in Turner Studios, which are now being used for BET’s show “Reed Between the Lines” through October. When I heard that earlier today, I wondered if that meant “Mo’Nique” was not coming back or had been moved to another studio. If her show were coming back, she would be taping by August. (Like many shows, it does not tape original episodes during the summer.)

This didn’t appear to be an issue of ratings. I didn’t have time to do an entire season’s check on ratings so I sampled four weeks in April, 2011 vs. April 2010. Ratings from April 5 to April 29, 2010 averaged 615,000 viewers a night. From April 4 to April 28, 2011, her show averaged 586,000. That’s only a five percent drop.

Mediatakeout, which broke the story, said there were conflicts between BET management and Mo’Nique. Was it creative and/or financial? The story does not say. It also doesn’t say if BET will seek another talk-show host or just drop the concept.

Perry isn’t sure why the show was cut but thinks it might have been a financial decision. “They haven’t had this type of investment ever,” he said. “We did 300 shows over two seasons. That’s a huge investment.”

Sad!..Whatever U may say about her. It was the only talk Show that focused on black guest since Arsenio..

I blame her husband. Hear he is a control freak on that show. I bet "mo money, mo money, mo money" was a factor also.

Damn shame tho, the show had some good times: Five Heartbeats reunion, The Game reunion, Marion Jones confessing why she got pinched, Omarosa and Green Mile dude, Les Nubians, Ciara, ok maybe the show was just alright.

One question though....what or who will replace Monique? I have some nominees in mind:

BLACK MEN REVEALED - loved loved loved that show even though it wasn't a BET show

MICHAEL BAISDEN AFTER DARK - they can call it the Michael Baisden show

LIVE WITH NENE LEAKES - ole girl need to do somethin' cuz RHOA aint gonna last forever

MARTHA STEWART - don't judge me

CEE LO's musical talk show - eh couldn't hurt

Keyshia Cole Show - well it's in the works so couldn't hurt

SOMETHING WITH JESSE JACKSON - only cuz I've run out of ideas

Sad, especially if she was doing well because that means she pulled it off and it's something people want to see so it's now all about egos more then your target audience.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Monique is an absolute bitch to work with and i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they pulled it just not to deal with her ass.

I don't know how far it goes back but my personal encounters with her ass go back to 2004 and I also saw her do the complete fool backstage at the BET Awards in 2007 IIRC. They knew what they were getting into cuz she's notorious.

I have worked with her twice & I never seen this bad side that peeps keep telling me. I have been told things that I won't repeat here. I like her & support her in any decision she makes. Maybe she don't like women. But I have nothing bad to say I experienced from her. I know she is a straight foward woman & peeps have problems when a certain type of woman speaking her mind. But she has a right, she is an oscar winning actress & should go back to doing movies. To me her doing a talk show is lowering herself.

Yes that "Five Heartbeats" reunion was her best show IMO. I need for them to rerun that so I can record it on my DVR. But other than that particular show and the others featuring the musical artists you haven't seen in years, her show was just okay. She annoys me anyway so I would always just watch it long enough to see whatever guest I was interested in and then change the channel.

He sure was. I used to stay up past my bedtime every night watching The Arsssseeeeennnnnniiiiioooooooooo Hall Show.
