Consumer Reports study on fast food: The top companies loose big.

Consumer Reports did a big survey of fast food joints here and the big four score super low. Taco Bell, McDonalds, Burger King and KFC flunk big in both taste and price.

http://www.consumerreport.../index.htm

The top hamburger is In-N-Out Burger, the worst is Mickey Ds. The top pizza is Papa Murphys, the worst Pizza Hut and Domanoes.

The best chicken is Chick Filet, the worst is KFC. The best mexican is Chipotle, the worst Taco Smell..lol

The best sandwich is I forgot, haha. The worst is Quiznos, Arbys.

My main question is why do people buy the top brands if the food is so shitty? There is no price issue, so there is no excuse. This tells me a lot because it shows Americans care about quality more than the powers that be think they do and the big companies must, in affect brainwash people into buying that shit.

We should stop eating that garbage and quit exporting our shitty culture to the world.

What the hell they talkin' bout? Quiznos and Pizza Hut are off the chain! Good food joints they are!

Mickey D's doesn't even sell hamburger. That's some horse meat and Gluten fillers....or maybe seasoned sponge material.

Personally, In-N-Out is nasty. I'm fond of Sonic though, since they don't have them in my area lol

Pizza Hut is good to me when I need a pizza fix. I've worked at Domino's, so no comment there.

I have a box of KFC in the kitchen right now, so I guess it's pretty ok. Chik-Fil-A is significantly better though.

Chipotle is amazing.

time flies.

Hmm, I hardly do In N Out, I don't like their burgers that much and the closest one to where I live is too far to drive just for a burger and fries, I prefer Jack N the Box anyway, hardly do Mickey Ds either even their fries don't taste good anymore to me. Don't care for pizza, got spoiled on a local place called Mt. Etna's unfortunately the original owner sold the place and the new owner doesn't have the same recipe for pizza, I'll eat a slice if it's available and free but none of them excite me enough to buy it. Damn near all the Taco Bells in my area have been run out of business and with an abundance of taco shops in close proximity I don't even get a taste for it. Subway's okay, though I haven't eaten there in over a year, I much prefer Submarina, but it's not close, never had Quiznos.

I only know of one Chik filet, and it too frekkin far to drive just for a chicken sandwich, if I'm in the area like I'm at the Home Depot in the area 'cause none of the other Home Depots have in stock what I need then I might swing by, maybe once, twice a year. But I like Burger Kings chicken sandwich and they are close to me so I may not even think about that place. At work if I go out, I only go to Carl's Jr, JntB, or Burger King, there use to be a Lebonese place which I loved where I got my first taste of Taboulee drool but they closed and are only in La Jolla too far to drive for food. I don't think I'm helping keep fast food places in business, I don't like a lot of things.

Those milkshakes from Jack In The Box are the business!

InNOut got some bomb ass fries - fresh cut and fried right in front of you.

Wendy's uses too much bread!

Carl's Jr posts signs that say "chemicals in this building may cause cancer". True, I saw the signs with my very own eyes. I don't eat there anyway because their food taste wierd but I did go one time for that teriyaki burger which was kind of ok.

I like the salads and sushi at Whole Foods. There's some quality fast food for you.

Even if this report says money doesn't factor in, it totally does. I can go to Burger King and order a salad and a bacon cheeseburger for $2.14. I don't have children but if I did, I would not be able to take them out for a dining experience on a regular basis. For example, my friend took her two kids to IHOP for dinner last night and the total was $25. And while that is a very good price for dine in service, she typically spends $7 at McDonalds for the 3 of them.

I prefer to cook and if I did have children dining out would be a rare treat (by choice). But even that is not cheaper than McDonalds. That's my twocents

Chipotle and Taco Bell don't really seem comparable to me, but I guess your could stretch it and make it work. Regardless, I like both of them. Probably the only "fast food" I eat.

They have no clue what they're talking about, because all the chains they named off as being the worst, are the ones that make the most money.

Call me crazy, but I think if most people thought the food was that gross, they wouldn't buy it at the rapidfire pace they do. lol

I don't know about elsewhere but here Dairy Queen's Grill & Chill (or is it Chill & Grill?) places sell the best burgers for a chain restaurant, way better than Burger King or McDonald's. It's just a shame there are so few of them in Bangkok. sad

Their flamegrilled burger with bacon and chillies is delicious! drool

For those who like Chipotle-might not know that McDonalds corp is soley resposnsibile for its growth through out the US.

see link:

http://nutritionwonderland.com/2009/06/does-mcdonalds-own-chipotle-mailbag/

I acually like a whopper from BK. But I adore McDonalds and Wendy's fries.

I have never understood the Popularity of Papa murphy's pizza. The toppings are good-but the cheap crust and sauce are blah. (It's popularity is probably because it's cheap.)

Sbarro got low ratings and I used to dig that..lol

In the magazine they mention that in NY and Chicago people tend to be more hip when it comes to pizza, because the quality of mom and pop pizza there is so high.

I'm not surprised, the kiwi version of you magazine is called Consumer and it usually shows that the best fast food comes from the corner takeaway bar, chains (Here we have Maccas, KFC, Pizza Slut, Daminoes Burger Sling and Wendys, and they usually all score poorly for portion size, price, health content and service). Whereas most fish and chip shops usually score well. We are few years behind you guys though, Burger King still fry their food in beef Tallow (Although Maccas switched to canola a few years ago). Surprisingly McCafe does well in our tests. I don't know about you guys, but theres a huge crusade against junk food here, and we are always warned "Eat these foods as an occasional treat only"

Worst offender is KFC as its food is extremely fattening (The chicken when you bite into it, fat splurges out) and the thin fries ensure more fat and batter than potato. Best of the chains is Wendy for taste, but its very fattening.

Actually local chains like Burgerfuel (16 restauarants in NZ, 2 in Oz and 1 in Abu Dhabi) and Burger Wisconsin (4 in Auckland) do well here even though the burgers cost like $16 each ($14 USD - Our dollar has surged to 88 US cents, in 2001 it was 39 cents). We also have a popular Pizza Chain called Hell which does well, and gives Pizza Hutt a run for its money (It nearly went bankrupt until KFC bought them out - Both are run by Restaurant Brands)

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
