Cannibal Talk

I just watched a foreign film called "We Are What We Are" that involved cannibalism, & It made me think, How desperate must one who is civilized be to have to eat another human beings flesh?

What would lead you down the path of even thinking about cannibalism? Or what if you were given millions of $'s to eat human meat, would you?

How many millions are we talking? Were they slaughtered in a humane way? Would it be cooked up by a fancy French chef?

I can't say I wouldn't do it was a socially acceptable thing to do or if I don't go to jail for it hmmm I wouldn't be happy if my dinner had a horrible life or was tortured cry what if it's roadkill?

feeling ill

i rather die than eat another human

not even 4 a million dollars and even if their balls r served on a silver platter.... there is no way i could do it

it reminds me of that old movie where the plane crashes in snow and the survivors eat the dead.... cant remember what it's called right now... but i remember watching it thinking i would let them eat me than eat them

and besides in snow u can always eat yellow ice nod

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Okay...let's see.....uh, 10 mill....any sort of accident [natural causes or dying from sickness wouldn't be cool].....prepared any way you'd like [like a burger or with a salad. you know, how a nice meal should be]...the chef would be of a homestyle type of chef though....no torture [at least not that you know of].....& you wouldn't have to be involved in the killing, chopping or anything, just eat. biggrin

Not desperate at all.

There was, not sure if there still is, a society which believed in eating their dead

as a sign of respect (from what I've read on burial rights).

If the human meat was cooked and tasted good, yes I would eat it.

In a state of desperation people will do any number of things.

This reminds me of that movie where the dudes in the plane crashed and they had to pig out on the other guy to stay alive.

And that's the answer, basically. I think most people wouldn't do it unless it was absolutely a matter of life or death (and some probably wouldn't do it even then). Plus, really it's not safe to consume human flesh anyway - you'll end up with Kuru.

Editing to add - Damn! I should start reading the threads in full before I post; I didn't see that Fuzzywitch already mentioned the movie. falloff

heart the movie Heathers. There should be a thread about it. That movie rocked and it was one of the best comedies about snotty cliqueish mean girls ever made. Black comedy of course because Slater was a homicidal maniac. Allegedly.

I think starving to death is probably more difficult for some people than it would be for others.

I think a person who is on already on the brink of starvation, understands the process and has accepted the circumstances could probably starve without much ado, but a person who has a lot more process to go through to get to that point and doesn't understand the concept and might even be one who survives longer and has a chance to build more hope in surviving beyond others who have already passed... it might be a totally different story for them. The process may become so complicated for them that they do wind up eating someone. Among some people, once they've done it... the reservations go down and it becomes normal if food is not available... or even if it is.

I don't think it even runs that deep, really; it's just that, the human survival instinct is damn strong - we come hardwired that way, in order to ensure the continuation of the species.

So I think that actually most people, if it were a matter of life or death and there were absolutely no other options or sources for food, would do it. And, especially if they had their offspring with them, or they needed to stay alive to get back home to and take care of their children? Oh, it's really a wrap, then; I think a lot of people who are going 'Oh, of course not, how horrible' right now would suddenly be singing a very different tune, then : "Pass me a piece of that fat dude's ass, om nom nom!".

I agree the human survival instinct is strong, but I do believe that you would find (if it came down to it) that there are people who could keep themselves from doing that because biologically starvation is just not going to be as painful for some as it will for others.

There are monks who KEEP themselves at the brink of starvation for various reasons. There are people in this world who starve themselves when food is right in front of there face. There are people who would willingly release their life as well and could accept death more easily.... those are just a couple of types who are candidates for being able to not go cannibal when faced with starvation. Also, here's another scenario.... there are a group of people who get stranded way out somewhere and are doomed to starve. One of those people have a prescription of oh, let's say roxicet... and they have no intentions of letting anyone else know. That person will not likely go cannibal. That person will likely be the first to starve quietly. I know that's far fetched but there are all sorts of factors that could play into it.

...but I do agree that it would be painful and scary for most people.

But now that I think about it again... hmmm

it could be pretty cool, you know, being in a party with someone and suddenly sayin' :"you know, once I was forced to eat a female's arm, and you know what, it tasted like soft beef"

it could be a experience, I'm always looking for things that normal/mainstream society never does so it could be interesting hmmm smile

I think Mick Jagger wrote a song about him "Too Much Blood", or perhaps it was another Japanese guy, lol

lol biggrin hmm, I'm not sayin' that I WANT to try it or whatever, but I've realized that if I HAD to do it, it wouldn't be THAT bad, and it would be something definitely WORTH telling once I arrived safe to the city again...tv appearances and shit...books... $$$$$

perhaps the xperience would be useful to feel more connected to humanity or something...

suddenly, I feel empathy for this gent:
