I have House Geckos...EWWW!!!!! My immediate reaction is to be disgusted. But then I read some people buy these things to get rid of insects. WTF? |

I like 'em. We get the little ones in our house all the time, on the walls and on the floor when we're not in a room (and then they run away when you come in). They're called 'jing-jok' here. Occasionally we get the bigger ones inside too (but more often you just hear them outside), called 'tukgae' (after the sound they make).
At least they're better than rats. I see rats several times a day in this house, in the kitchen and bathroom mostly. Not much we can do about it. Shit, there's a bunch of holes in the roof at the back of the bathroom and it's raining right now so there's a torrent of water cascading in there. It's an old house, half wood, with loads of holes in it. You learn to share.
MY COUSIN WORKS IN A PHARMACY AND SHE SAID THEY ENEMA'D PRANCE INTO OBLIVION WITH FENTONILS!! |

INSIDE you house?

I saw them at my aunt's house but outside.
I'd rather them than the giant green biting flies that I'm sure would be controlled if the weather up here allowed Geckos to survive.
When we first bought the house we had House Centipedes.

Dem f*cker are SCARY! I had to google them to find out what the hell they even were!!!
Apparently (even though they can sting you) they're relatively harmless and pretty much if you have them in your house, you have OTHER insect problems because these guys come in chasing after the others. Turns out we had carpenter ants in the house! By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! |

In my old house, there were a bunch of these suckers. However, they apparently are good for eating termites. Not surprisingly my house was by the uni in an older part of town where termites are plentiful. But yes they creep me out.
Geckos, however, so cute. [Edited 6/22/20 10:42am] |

I'm a cold weather boy; never even dawned on me folk would get geckos in their homes. I suppose it makes sense.
I think they're cute, too. And I'd much prefer them to rats, mice or a ton of bugs. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

When I lived in Florida they used to break into my house through the cat door. Honest to gawd I neeeeever saw a speck 'o poop anywhere. My house was always professionally exterminated so I had no real insect isse to speak of outside of mosquitoes an the occasional house fly, but I kept 'em around anyway I would have 1-2 at a time, and they basically just lived on the low windowsill, occasionally jumping to my rubber tree/bananna plant for food- and they would just drink water from the leaves of the plant (after I watered them), then they would sunbathe on the windowsill...I'm talking straight chilling out..like they were on Spring Break They were so thin and tiny, somehow they didn't feel intrusive at all. Plus, with no proof of poop to be found anywhere, and everyone touting their bug catching talents, I didn't mind having them. My cats usually got to them though and took them outside to play with . But there always seemed to be one or two stopping by and staying on bug rotation...and they were always respectful enough to limit themselves to the florida room window sill- never passing through anywhere else in the house (which was reasonable enough for me) |
