Also quite possibly the cutest thing ever: the hot cop from Walking Dead, who is off-the-charts smokin' hot. He saw me trying to take his picture and he smiled and waved. I'm pretty sure he wants us to get married.

Was Neal Adams there?

Neal wasn't there when I stopped by the booth, but he was there for a good part of the day. You could commission original artwork or buy things that were already there. I'd love to get an original piece of art from him, but he charges $250 for a small piece and up to $1,000 for the better ones.

Echo and Rasl are two of my favorite graphic-novel series right now. They share a booth at the con.

Oh, and it's Bone's 20th anniversary, which is really cool.

mega con in Orlando is nice!

Comic-Con has become too much, it's so far removed from comics for me.

Give me a dimly lit convention center with tons of books and artists giving me sketches for reasonable prices and I'm on cloud9

I wanted to get some sketches, which is something I've never done, but a friend was telling me they jack up the prices for all art here at SD and that I should wait for NY.

This convention is definitely removed from comics. It's absolutely insane in a lot of ways. I hate how all those dealer tables are shunted off to the far side of the floor to make room for a bunch of crap.

fuck off!!!! lol

I generally get sketches of Spider-Man from any and all artists I dig. I have a nice head sketch of spidey from John Romita Sr. that I treasure. fallinluv

Yep. I didn't know what comics conventions were till I was an adult. As a kid, I got made fun of too--often by my own mother lol--for reading them. The coolest thing I found as a kid was a monthly flea market where a couple different guys would sell back issues. I managed to get tons of old X-Men and Legion comics that I wanted, and sometimes just random old stuff that looked interesting to me.

I have to do a lot of work-type stuff here, so most of my day is planned, but just sneaking out to buy a bunch of old comics yesterday was the highlight of my trip.

And regarding the people who now talk about how badass Captain America is: They piss me the fuck off. They come in and they hire a bunch of Hooters wannabe girls to fake flirt with the guys, and then they go screw up things like Green Lantern because they don't understand anything about why people like the character. Then when it doesn't do well, they want to ditch the whole thing.

We'll need to create an Org hookup thread and see if the Org crazies mingling with comicbook crazies can net some wild-ass results!

Oh, and it's Bone's 20th anniversary, which is really cool.

How did our comic book thread not take off!? Rasl has been too slow for me, but I have a few issues in the "to read" pile, so maybe it will pick up about. But I've been loving Echo! I'm sad its about to end. I actually went back and read Strangers In Paradise again, too (for about the 20th time). Terry is just a great writer/creator.

How in the crap did I not know that they were doing a big ass Bone 20th box set! I must have one, like, now! Especially if its color, because I haven't bought any of those yet. Cerebus is excited now!

lol!

that's cool though! I actually buy lots of books in fine and sometimes even close to poor condition.

I find it cool to have an original Amazing Spider-Man # 8 no matter the condition. It's actually survived this long, and you can open it and read it without fear of degrading it.

I personally hate slabbed books. disbelief

I am now and will forever proudly be a GEEK! I am a comic book GEEK. A Star Trek GEEK. A vinyl GEEK. I am not a nerd. Nerds wear pocket protectors, high waters and have tape on their glasses. I am not a dork. Dorks exhibit immature and socially lame behavior. I am a GEEK. Period.

Geek:

1: a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake
2: a person often of an intellectual bent who is disliked
3: an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activit
