OK...this one really freaked me out.

I was at a friend's yesterday and we got to talking about ghosts b/c she has experienced one in her apartment. This was prompted by the light in the hallway flickering on/off for a bit.

Anyway, when she and her boyfriend started dating, strange things would happen when he was around. They'd be kissing and suddenly a painting fell off the wall, or dishes would rattle in the sink.

One particular evening was the worst...he finally was convinced that there was something in the apartment, but was determined to not let it spoil his mojo. But (in his words) strange things would occur timed to his hard-ons. Finally he told her to wait exactly 2 minutes, to see if anything would happen while they weren't getting it on, then to start up again.

They did. This was about 2:00am. She has a young son (aged 5) asleep in the next room. When they started up again, he came into the room with a wide-eyed stare, as if sleepwalking, and walked up to the bed, and said "Good Morning".

Needless to say, I was a bit too drunk to drive last night, but I could NOT spend the night there.

hmph!

CREEPY UPDATE!

The first time I visited her apartment, I chided her for not making her boyfriend (my buddy) change her broken toilet seat.

So last week she bought a new toilet seat and he replaced it for her.

THIS WEEKEND she went into the bathroom and it's BUSTED! Someone/something ripped 2 screws off the toilet seat lid!!! Not as if the screws fell out on their own (they're stripped) and her 5 year old son isn't strong enough to accomplish the feat (my buddy tried to replicate it with the other 2 screws that're still barely holding it together, & he couldn't).

omfg

This spirit really dislikes my buddy.

Your friend is going to have to lay down some ground rules to the spirits because all they want is to be acknowledged. They also feed off emotional energy and also young energy (their son).

They must say to them - I know you are there but this is my house now and I would appreciate it if you did not interfer with my family. Talk to them they will listen and if they are spirits attached to the house and you respect the house they will respect you.

I live with at least 2 spirits - in the beginning they made their presence known. I acknowledged it and now they are silent and respectful - still there because I know they are there - but quiet and I still talk to them and about them - its as if they don't not want to be non-existent - they just want you to tell them that everything is going to be ok.

Well...a while back she did a "cleansing ritual" with sage and some other stuff, and supposeldy things got quiet for a while after.

I think that once my buddy got hot & heavy with her (and is practically living there) things have gotten strange again.

Definitely needs to start laying down the rules amd imposing her will upon the house.

Although people use the terms interchangeably, I understand that there is a difference between spirits and ghosts? Can anyone elaborate?

I can give you what I believe to be the difference;

A spirit would be an ethereal entity that may inhabit a place or thing...call it an angel, a demon, a sprite, or what-have-you.

A ghost would be the lingering entity of a human being.

That's how I see it.

Interesting story and interesting thread...I have seen many ghosts in my life. But...I actually saw one here at my house on Saturday night. I was laying in bed, went to roll over and I saw a man about 6ft walk in front of my bed. I sat up like my ass was on fire and yelled "WTH was that?" It's not the first time I questioned whether something was in my house. My son will hear his name called etc... This is a new house, but it's not far from a neighborhood we once lived where almost every house seems to be haunted. I think those ghosts are finding their way over here.

Wow!!! My psychic self hears the name BEN. I wonder if that's his name.

Hmmm...could be. eek
