i aint afraid of no ghost...

my childhood best friend just decided to get a place of her own with her boyfriend... i helped her in her search for a pretty and spacious appartment... we finally found one and she obtained the keys on sunday.. i was so excited for her ... well anyway needless to say ive always been a believer in the paranormal and ghosts. but i have never had even a close encounter of anything strange in my life.. and believe me ive put myself in some very scary places just to see if something would happen... anyway so i get a call monday while im at work and she asks if i can come over to help her move in a couple of items and just see some of the stuff she bought for decorating and ect.. i said sure but it would have to be late because i didnt get off of work till 9pm... so its about 10:45 when we are done packing up my car and we are on our way to her new appartment.. the appartment she is renting is part of a victorian house that was made into 4 seperate units and her app being on the top floor has this huge massive private attic that only she has acess to... so she proceeds to tell me she was in the app till about 1am on sunday night by herself and she kept hearing noises in the attic and kept getting this creepy feeling and said she hopes because the place is over 100 yrs old its only her imagination... so i laugh at her and tell her its beacause it new to you ... anyway so we are unpacking at her unit and i look at my phone and its about 1:20am and we are in the living room adjacent to her kitchen.. i turn to ask her something and we hear this huge boom right around the corner in the kitchen... now im trying to regain composure and show that im not freaked out at all but secretly i wanted to jump outta my skin!! we walk down the tiny hall to the kitchen and look and 3 of her KITCHEN CABINET DOORS ARE WIDE THE HELL OPEN!! i look at her and she looks at me and im like i think we need to go out on the balcony and have a smoke... so shes like dude i dont know about this and im like well maybe its a friendly victorian ghost.. so we come back in and proceed to unpack the last of her stuff. but some of the things we didnt get to had to be stored up in the attic .. so shes like there is no way in hell im going up there bymyself im like ok ill be behind you so we open the door that leads to the stairs and on the 3rd to last stair is a old antique hair clip.. we look at each other and she bends down to pick it up this thing looks like its from the 1900's anyway we were so hustled to leave after that ... and i was so scared i almost couldnt walk myself back to my car in the dark.. ive never had that feeling of being watched before like i did in her place.. i can only hope this was a freak accident and that everything will be soothing for my friend after she gets everything moved in.. i asked for this kind of experience and finally got what i was looking for... i truly dont doubt that we have something else out there ..

well have any of you had a encouter with anything other worldly ? i would love to hear your stories ...

eek

That's creepy!

You know that supposedly if a place has a spirit, it can be awoken by the hustle & bustle of moving in & out of a home.

I have had 3 very notable experiences, which I've posted on too many prior "ghost" threads already, so I will orgnote u if u r interested.

I had an "other worldly" encounter once - but I don't believe it was with a ghost. I believe it was with an angel.

When I was 23, I went to London with a friend of mine. It was my first time travelling overseas - and my first brush with people driving on the "wrong" side of the road.

I don't remember exactly where we were, but I started to step off a curb (looking in the wrong direction). Suddenly, I felt someone/something pull me back by the belt of my trench coat - which was tied snugly around my waist. (In other words, it would have been hard to grab.) A split second later, a taxi sped by. There is no question that I would have been struck - and possibly killed.

The friend I was with remembers this happening, but doesn't remember seeing anyone behind me. She did not pull me back, herself.

Since then, I have always been convinced that I have a guardian angel.

If this were happening to my hubby and I, he'd tell me, "You've got 30 seconds to grab what you want to keep. I'll be waiting in the car."

I think I have one too. When I was 9 years old I rode my bike to tennis coaching each saturday morning, just around the corner from my house. One time I was just about to ride into a crossing and I was pedaling but it suddenly felt like the brakes came on and the bike was being dragged backwards. It saved my life, since a that moment a car I'd not seen came hurtling down he street.

I like those stories.

But outside of movies has anyone really been hurt or harmed by a ghost? sure I know it is hard to prove but you don't often hear of people claiming they got hit or whatever by some mysterious force. So you might have some ghosts (or whatever) but other than open a few cupboards door every now and then what harm can it do to co-habit (although it would really annoy the wife if we had a ghost and it didn't tidy up after itselfs spooky self)

So, what is your friend going to do? Do some research on the history of the building? Did she contact the former inhabitants? Run around with burning sage?

I'm convinced I'm sharing my space with a ghost. Only, a very, very shy ghost. The ghost never bothered to slam the doors or leave me some jewelry. Just in my imagination.

I never had a ghost experience.

I love to hear those of other orgers! Including already posted ones, purplejedi!

Will you keep us updated on the proceedings of your friends and their ghost?

...not really "hurt" but my friend was "slapped in the face" by the spirit of her grandmother.

She had just passed, the ashes were in the house (unbeknownst to my friend who kept feeling a "prescence" in her room), and the morning that the ashes were to be taken away she was awoken by the feeling of being slapped in the face (perhaps some anger 'cuz my friend refused to acknowledge the prescence).

Loving this thread!!!!!

I have too many ghost stories to tell but there is one recent one I'd like to mention.

My cousin Maria, and her wife, Gina have been experiencing some paranormal activity in their apartment. Gina has heard her name twice. One day they were both outside with the dog and when they went back in they heard one of their iPhones being plugged in. It's a distinct sound, you know it if you have one. Their dog is very sensitive and sometimes looks like he's staring at someone, especially in one of their closets. All that activity started right after Gina had a weird dream (or so she thinks 'cause she felt like she was awake) of her waking up and looking out of the bedroom door and seeing a woman walk into the bathroom. Oh yeah, I forgot. One of the things that bugged them was that one day they woke up and went to the front door and the 3 locks were unlocked. Now, there is no possible reason that could be. They are anal about closing everything.

Last Christmas they were putting up their Christmas tree. They had the whole music going and stuff. My cousin wanted to take a picture of Chico, their German Shepherd but she knew he wouldn't stand still. Well on this occasion he sits right down in front of the tree and looks right at her. She grabs the camera and takes the shot. In the picture you see him and a big round ball of light (orb). We don't usually believe in orbs 'cause they could be dust but this one was bright. It was right next to Chico. Maria and I automatically thought it was her brother, my closest cousin. And to top it off. The Christmas song that was playing when she took the picture was I'll Be Home For Christmas. When she told me that I busted out crying.

That was based on something that happened in San Francisco right? Or at least the movie was based there. Was Barbara Hershey in that? I gotta buy that for my collection.

I remember loving the movie. I think I read the book though. A loooooong time ago. I just don't like the ending. It was too Ghostbuster-ish.

My friend recently bought a house that was previously owned by a Japanese woman who died in the house. Another friend of ours came over to spend the night not knowing about this. The next morning our friend woke up and said "Girl, I think U have a ghost in your house" My friend asked her why she thought that, and she said "I saw a lady walk across the room wearing a kimono!" Needless to say that freaked my friend out! Also, since she's been living there, there have been lots of pictures taken with orbs in the background. I'm a believer!

OK...this one really freaked me out.

I was at a friend's yesterday and we got to talking about ghosts b/c she has experienced one in her apartment. This was prompted by the light in the hallway flickering on/off for a bit.

Anyway, when she and her boyfriend started dating, strange things would happen when he was around. They'd be kissing and suddenly a painting fell off the wall, or dishes would rattle in the sink.

One particular evening was the worst...he finally was convinced that there was something in the apartment, but was determined to not let it spoil his mojo. But (in his words) strange things would occur timed to his hard-ons. Finally he told her to wait exactly 2 minutes, to see if anything would happen while they weren't getting it on, then to start up again.

They did. This was about 2:00am. She has a young son (aged 5) asleep in the next room. When they started up again, he came into the room with a wide-eyed stare, as if sleepwalking, and walked up to the bed, and said "Good Morning".

Needless to say, I was a bit too drunk to drive last night, but I could NOT spend the night there.

I have had no less than 6 extreme paranormal events happen to me since february but I am starting to think they are not paranormal at all. I am seriously beginning to think they were fabricated incidents and it just so happens that I know how something like that could be produced with technology.

Even though I have had multiple parnormal events happen to me, I will not be able to tell any of my stories right now because I have a lot of things to think about and figure out... not to mention that my house was recently broken into and I don't know *exactly* who did it and since I don't, I can't be certain what it's related to and what it's not related to. It was NOT a robbery. I would actually feel better about the situation if it had been.

I understand not being comfortable telling your friends. Since I had brought up the whole orb thing in pictures to them, everytime I go over there, they clown me saying..."Oh Ben, is that an orb?" I regret even bringing it up, but I know what I know and feel, and that bitch's house is haunted!

You know what's terrible?... even I have a hard time believing some of the stories I hear. To sit and think about the things that have happened and for people to not believe it... is maddening.

Kind of a double standard but it's human nature I guess.

Hell, when i was 19 me and three of my friends saw a stargate open up in the sky.

to this day those people will consistantly give you the same story, there is no doubt in my mind they will. Some of them I have not spoken to in years and one of them is a bitter ex of mine but i promise they will give the same story. No doubt in my mind.

people can explain all kinds of ways but you can't explain watching something completely leave the atmosphere as fast as a shooting star that had been stationary, hovering and directed at us the whole time, followed us down the road as it got bigger and brighter... then decided to back off and left.

When I say "left" I mean "left planet earth"

That's not even the weirdest incdent. There are nearly a dozen that are weirder than that.

3 witnesses dude, nobody gives a shit except greedy, selfish writers that just want to bleed you dry. Nobody.

I have had several paranormal experiences with my mother who passed away in 2007. Every few months I have a dream that features her and in late 2008 managed to take a photo of my garden at night and in the photo was about 25 or 30 orbs and several misty entity faces and one that clearly looked like my mother. I took it to two psychic and both agreed that it was real,. my mother was there and she had at least 30 of her ancestors and protective spirits there with her. Was I scared or freaked out, no. I felt very good about it. I get orbs on my photos all the time and I know.

I spoke to my mother through a psychic a couple of years ago, and her message was "always trust your first instincts with spiritual matters"

I also have one of her pendulums which I use on a 'Psychic Bowl" of hers and mine accumulated trinkets and syngergised talismans, and are sure my cat has been possessed by her spirit a bit, as she often behaves a bit like my mother and hangs around the bowl.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Well I thought 'The Exorcist' was really rather lame when I watched a few years back. I was much more freaked out by 'The exorcism of Mary or whatever it was called' (based on a true story I believe). I will check out your recommendation though. Thanks

CREEPY UPDATE!

The first time I visited her apartment, I chided her for not making her boyfriend (my buddy) change her broken toilet seat.

So last week she bought a new toilet seat and he replaced it for her.

THIS WEEKEND she went into the bathroom and it's BUSTED! Someone/something ripped 2 screws off the toilet seat lid!!! Not as if the screws fell out on their own (they're stripped) and her 5 year old son isn't strong enough to accomplish the feat (my buddy tried to replicate it with the other 2 screws that're still barely holding it together, & he couldn't).

omfg

This spirit really dislikes my buddy.

Interesting story and interesting thread...I have seen many ghosts in my life. But...I actually saw one here at my house on Saturday night. I was laying in bed, went to roll over and I saw a man about 6ft walk in front of my bed. I sat up like my ass was on fire and yelled "WTH was that?" It's not the first time I questioned whether something was in my house. My son will hear his name called etc... This is a new house, but it's not far from a neighborhood we once lived where almost every house seems to be haunted. I think those ghosts are finding their way over here.

I can see I need to start a counseling service for communication problems between "spirits" and the people they "haunt".

There are clearly one sides relationships going on in the world that are being poorly understood. I've really been thinking about this.
