I'd get him the DSi. That's the one I always hear people talk about and is the most widely purchased of the two. Plus I think there's some kind of wireless online component, or at least something where he'd be able to play against other kids? I just remember I had a friend who had one and she wanted me to get one too so we could play each other.

The PSP looks cooler and I'm pretty sure it has better graphics, but it's kinda like buying a PS3 instead of an X Box 360 - doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I'd go for Nintendo. I can't give you a proper reason other than all the kids I know have a DS of some kind or another.

DSi is already outdated. It does have a huge library of games though.

The PSP is being replaced. Sometime in the last few months of this year the Playstation Vita will be released. That's the one you want. nod

the games begin at 1:12, and they are going to be badass. nod

Of those two, I'd go for a DSi as if you're amoral and allergic to spending money on games, it's a lot easier on the DSi.

That said, the Nintendo 3DS is a better than both of those - but it's a lot dearer and not fully hacked yet.

I've only known maybe 3 people with a PSP

I'd go with the DSi. I'm thinking of replacing my DS Lite with a 3DS though

I own an Xbox 360 and I´m quite happy with it but why do you say that it´s better than a PS3?

PS3 is way more expensive, has way less games, and their online component sucks. I think there was some kind of security breach too where a lot of people's personal data got out?

lol

the hack is true sigh

However, that could happen to the 360 just as easily, we just ended up being the ones that got hacked. It's kind of silly to use that as a reason, they're all equally vulnerable to attack.

in defense of the PS3 though, the $100 price difference (which isn't WAY MORE expensive in my opinion) is justified.

-Blu-ray

-automatic firmware updates

-wifi without having to buy an add-on

-the sixaxis dualshock 3 controllers have motion sensing/control built in

-bluetooth

-built in internet browser

-way better processing than the 360

-HDMI without buying an add on

-3D capability

the 360 does have a better library, but it had nearly an entire year head start, it should have more games!!

Xbox Live is probably better than the Playstation network, but I would only say marginally. You also have to PAY for that network. I'll take the PSN for free anyday over that, it's not like they're day and night in that comparison.

I had an Xbox 1 and loved it. It was better than the PS2 at the time. I'm not just blindly supporting Sony.

This is just my experience, but EVERY SINGLE ONE of my friends that went with Xbox has had their console die on them at least once. A few of them had them repaired by Microsoft TWICE. Two others bought brand new consoles only to have those FAIL also! That's been a big knock on the 360, and for good reason.

hug

I also don't think Microsoft has an active shutter 3D display with built in speakers and subwoofer for $500! Plus, two player co-op games can be played on it with both players seeing full 1080 screens, none of that shared screen crap.

This is just a part of nintendo's new console, a controller that you can also use to play if your partner or your kids want to watch television. But it is not a real handheld, you can't take it outside to play with, because it doesn't work without the big WiiU console.

The newest handheld from Nintendo is the 3DS.
