Orger Wan You Are My Only Hope So I am visiting the parents for a week and having a great time in the rural countryside of Ohio...not. Anyway I have noticed that all of the hand/bath towels have a slight "sour" odor to them. Do any of you fine upstanding orgers have any hints, ideas, suggestions on how to get rid of the smell.
My parents are old school and wouldn't think of going out and buying a new set of towels "just to wipe their hands on." I would buy them a whole new bunch, but my mom would just put them away and save them for "company".
I have washed them and used sheet freshner but to no affect. Anyone? The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

HOT water ~ vinegar ( at lease 2-3 cups per load ) ~ no REALLY !
double rinse add lavender or tea tree eo drops to final rinse
also CLEAN washer if it stinks sour too
Dry HOT and completely
fresh air and sunshine can do towels / sheets a world of good too

mach hit it on the head.
the washer is most likely the culprit.
ozone does wonders for stink, let them sit in the sun after doing the other steps.

I'm not sure what the cause is, but one thing that works (even for cat pee) is to set your item out in the hot blazing summer sun for hours and hours.
The sun can nutralize most smells given enought time.
Chemicals, soaps, and perfumes mostly mask or diminesh, but the sun is pretty good at just zapping it.
For some smells, it takes a long time in the sun though.

If none of the above works or takes too long, wash them as usual and add a box of this to the water:
I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

If none of those work, this you must do....there is no try.

If you have washed them and used other stuff and they still smell, it's probably because of where they are being stored.
For example, my house smells like mold. therefore everything in my house smells like mold as soon as it has been in there a day no matter how many times I wash it.
I have been trying to store my clothes in plastic bins to keep the fabric softner smell in longer but this house is just so desperate for a match you know.

What they said.
That or they aren't getting fully dry before being folded and put away.
