Past Films That Are Too Dangerous To Remake/Reboot in the 2010's!

I'll started this thread off with the one film that I know for a fact that can NEVER be remade in the 21st Century, never mind in the 2010's:

Pretty Baby

You mean anywhere in the world or just in your right-wing-nation?

Bilitis would probably considered as child-porn nowadays. Maybe even Lolita.

The uncensored version of Caligula (which was a heavy inspiration for Prince's Gett off video) wouldn't be shown in american cinemas nowadays, I guess.

Very funny. rolleyes And I'm not right-wing at all, so excuse you for stereotyping my home country (USA). Just because the place has too many politically correct MFers does NOT mean that I'm one too.

BTW, I've seen the uncensored director's cut version of Caligula a few months ago. I think it's one of the best most awesomely bad films ever! But I don't think anyone in Hollywood or indie film circles would want to remake it.

nod

Ferris Bueller is like The Breakfast Club. There are just some 80's classics that must remain untouchable at all times. cool

The infamous tar baby scene would be cut from the script, hence why no one would even bother doing a remake of the Song Of The South.

Maybe not the film so much as a few of the best scenes:

The Crying Game

I don't think the plot twist in 1992 will work the second time in 2011.

I thought the Coen Brothers practically remade it, a few years back with their horrible retooling of "The Ladykillers."

"Valley of the Dolls"

A cinematic take on a 1960s best-seller, Valley of the Dolls traces the ups and downs of three young women as fame, booze, pills, and men consume their lives. As the pressures of fame and failed romance take their toll on all three women, they take refuge in food, sex, liquor, and pills -- especially the main character, who becomes downright monstrous (the titular "dolls" are the uppers and downers to which she becomes hopelessly addicted). Although the film's characters are fictitious composites.

The "dolls" within the title is a slang term for downers, barbiturates used as sleep aids. (Dolls is also the slang for Dolophine (methadone)).

This main character most closely resembles Judy Garland. The script for Valley of the Dolls actually toned down Jacqueline Susann's novel.

if a remake was ever made they'd have to use the song "rehab" by amy winehouse to fit the main character. giggle
