I've always preferred Barnes and Noble and independent book stores

In the last 2 years, most of my books were purchases from Amazon. But independent book stores are better if you can find a few in your hometown.

i would weep sad tears if powell's bookstore in portland, OR ever went under. powell's is a kind of heaven for me, with new and used books about everything under the sun and then some.

imo if printed books are going to compete in the digital era they should be sold at magazine prices.

I love Powell's... my ex-wife lives in Portland. I was going to move there permanently, then we got divorced. Great store, picked up some very cool things there. From what I hear, they have been having problems though.

I live in the Portland area, as well; Powell's is a little slice of heaven! Ah, the smell of books . . .

I am really sorry about Borders, though. It was a great place to spend a lunch hour; truly rejuvenating.

It's sad.
