I stopped reading books to movies, because the movies always end up dissapointing me.
The only exception JRR Tolkien .... they did a great job with the movies.
I hated the Jurrasic Park trilogy because I read the books first.
These have been pretty good. The last three (maybe four) books (IMO) were basically written as movies which spoiled them as books for me but makes it real easy for the movie to follow the book.
The Harry Potter series? The movies are horrible.
They just didn't give a fuck about the story. The orger formerly known as theodore |

I thought you were only monosyllabic?
They follow the story as well as I remember. My criticism of the books is that they aren't well written. I can't re-read them at all. The Hobbit quartet on the other hand I've read six times. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think. |

What the fuck?
I think they are decent movies but they're truly horrendous adaptations of the books.
I can't really judge the writing of the books properly because I've only read the Spanish translations. They were good, though. I do agree that after The Prisoner of Azkaban they started to feel a bit like they were written as movies and The Half-Blood Prince feels like it was too edited. I just feel like, in the movies, they focused too much on the magic and not enough on the characters. Continuity was thrown out the window. The orger formerly known as theodore |

In movies when there is guns a blazing, folks with automatic weapons just spraying from left to right and hardly anyone gets hit. all that damn spraying and you only hit like 10 of them and there six of you shooting at them. There hiding behind things like end tables and couches, (I guess they make them shits bullet proof), running across the damn room LOL. They'll battle it out until someone runs out of ammo and THEN one person gets hit LOL
Not a plot or a storyline but it irritates me a little LOL

And Sarah Jessica Parker
Speaking of which, do NOT get me started on "Sex & The City" btw Aside from the fact that some of the plot seem outlandishly ridiculous, you cannot tell me that none of these women with their false sense of entitlement didn't get the the "Fuck Outta Here" treatment, not even ONCE. Seriously, FOH!
I have a serious love/hate relationship with that show though.

My point was Uma's character went through all sorts of unrealistic situations. She was jumping from balconies without suffering injuries. Took a hit from a flailing metal ball, yet bounced back after a couple of seconds. I don't think I would expect for her to take months to go through physical therapy to recover from a coma And if we want to get technical with how the human body reacts to trauma, Quentin would need to alter all those dismemberments as well The whole movie was ridiculous. I liked it at the time.
my only true complaint about kill bill...6ft buried and she punches her way out of a coffin. no matter how much she was trained to punch a hole through walls..but dirt alone and being able 2 climb out of that made me yell BULLSHIT right in the movie theater when i saw it man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 |

and one last thing then i'm gonna leave kill bill alone since it's still a bad ass flick, but ahhh can we talk about michael madsen's trailer home? okay let me get this straight, darryl hannah packs a suit case full of money with a poison snake inside on top of the money, and how did she get that snake in the suitcase 2 begin with without it biting her ass?
so then the snake bits michael madsen "killing him" and the snake runs around the trailer loose, then uma and darryl have a fight in which then uma pulls her one remaining eye out and leaves her wailing in the trailer. does the snake kill her then?

I was wondering about how she got it in there too? But I guess that's why they have a question mark next to her name.
There's supposed to possibly a part 3 that picks up years later. I think will deal with Vernita's daughter who saw Beatrix kill her mother and is the same age as BB. Maybe Elle would be in that one too. |

Here's what I hate: movies that are advertised as comedies but aren't.
Like "The Dilemma" or "Click".
And I guarantee you that new Steve Carrell movie, "Crazy Stupid Love" is neither funny nor a feel-good movie, despite what the commercials lead you to believe. |

Tron. The entire story line sucks to me...
Narnia... why can't the Lion just fix things himself? What's up with dragging kids through all that mess?
How many clones can you clone with one drop of blood that is over a cetury old? - Alien3
Will Harry Potter get a new wand or fix his broken one? "Wando-repair-o!" Why did Doby have to die?
You do realize that the Narnia series is based on Bible stories. The Lion represents/is GOD. The kids have to figure things out for themselves and just like in the bible God's "magic" appears in key moments.
There is no defending TRON.

Having read none of the books but seen all the movies, I can honestly say that Harry Potter makes absolute no sense to me right now as a long plot arc. I have no idea what the obstacle was to the bad guy forming physically, and what his deal is. I have no idea what Harry Potter's special attribute is that makes him the main character or how he has developed. The first movie on it's own made a lot of sense.
The movies are too far apart to connect in my mind. Maybe I should rewatch them. I have a feeling it won't add up to a solid sensible plot line like Lord of the Rings.
I do like all the effects, sound design, and the photography is pretty! [Edited 7/14/11 10:46am] |

The books/movies are a series of events that help shape and prepare Potter for his fight to the death, while trying to find out about his parents and the regime responsible for his parents death. A lot of the movies/books main plot lines are stand alone, with some of the plot lines supporting the overall arc. The finally movie should be great. (Read the book). The final 1/2 hour of the movie should be fast past with 3 major twists in the end.
Unlike Lord of the Rings which is one book split into 3, all Potter books are stand alone. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment |

I feel like the events are not really shaping him in any clear way, only a vague badly plotted way (at least in the movies).
I need to see the plot of Harry Potter in outline form.
Lord of the Rings is 3 books! And the Hobbit is a fourth. |

Yes, the movies don't make sense at all - except for maybe the first two, after that, it all went to hell. Supposedly, they split up the last book in two parts because they wanted to do a good job but no, the first part was ridiculous and I'm sure the second part will be even worse. I'm still excited about it, though. The orger formerly known as theodore |
