Rethinking it again.
Sweetie and I went to B&N yesterday because he convinced me that I should at least look at the Nook 1.5
Gotta say...I'm considering it - for the simple reason that it has a web browser (something they didn't include on the Simple Touch). It would definitely be nice to have that to check email when traveling. (Yeah, I have a Droid phone. But frankly, trying to check email on that is a pain in the butt.)
My only concern is...I'm sure they'll be dropping accessories (at least) for the 1.5. How long does a Nook battery last? Does it even pay to buy an extra (assuming B&N will be dropping support for the 1.5)?

I have to say, Nook looks better than Kindle
Kindle is fine for reading, but navigating it is kind of a PITA. My Legacy

I just got the Nook Color for my birthday last month and I love it!
I wanted something versatile so it's perfect for me. It combines the best features of the ereader/tablet IMO. I can check out books from the library or buy them from anywhere...I can even put mp3 audiobooks on it.
I bought the anti-glare screen protector and I use it outdoors every day at lunchtime. It reduces the glare and also protects the screen from scratches. You can also adjust the screen brightness as Militant pointed out.
There's also a wide selection of nice covers for it. I chose the one that makes it look like a regular book because if people think it's only a book they are less likely to mess with it.
The wi-fi is great because I can't be bothered squinting at a phone screen to check email or browse the web and the touch screen works great.
The whole thing fits nicely into my purse. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

with a kindle, you odn't need an anti glare screen protector.

I know. The E-ink screen looks like paper, (they have a nook with that feature also). I've checked all of them extensively...including the Kindle, believe me, but since I wanted it for multiple uses I wanted the color screen.
The protector also guards the screen from scratches. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Yep...mine is very similar except it only has the logo. I like it because it's inconspicuous. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

HOW TO MAKE AN eREADER CASE
Follow these step by step instructions to make a cover for your Kindle or other E-reader out of an old hardcover book: 1. Cut out the pages from a large book, and glue a strip of felt to the inside of its spine. 2. Cut two pieces of cardboard to the size of the book’s covers. Snip off the corners of the cardboard, and glue pieces of felt over the cardboard pieces.

3. Trace the outline of your e-reader on of one of the cardboard pieces. Punch a hole in each corner one inch in from the outline. Feed a four-inch piece of elastic from the inside through each hole and around each corner of the felt. Glue the ends of the elastic pieces to the inside of the cardboard.
4. To add a cover strap, cut holes in the back cover of the case, and pull a piece of elastic through them from the inside of the cover. Measure how long the elastic needs to be to keep the case closed, cut it, and glue the ends to the inside. For more details, go to instructables.com
