I've never understood the fascination with texting. They're already punching buttons on a phone so just dial the damn number and talk to the person.

Although I have a problem actually saying "BRING YO DICK". I'd rather text that.

Very nice and neat, but difficult to read. After I mail you my letter, perhaps you should print or type your reply instead.

eek eek You think so, IMO it's easy to read. A million times easier than my writing for sure boxed. If I write something it usually is very hard and sometimes impossible for me to read it later myself boxed. I remember when I did my final exams at school I was way more worried that they might not be able to read what I wrote than about the actual content boxed.

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

See I find that refreshing....handwritten letters shouldn't die just because we

don't 'need' to write. I say "buck the system"....there's nothing wrong with

'old school'.

Nothing wrong with old school. I still write out and send thank you letters when possible. My best friend lives 5000 miles from me now and she does not have a computer. She is in her 60's and is afraid of computers so going to the library to use one doesn't happen. We have to rely on writing letters most of the time. I do try to call her once a month or so but when funds are tight, we have to rely on pen & paper! We actually send one another photos on photo paper.

lol

On the text message topic, it is a nice way to drop a quick note. I wish my mom could figure out texting and realise that she does have it on her phone. It would be helpful in emergencies, right now we have to rely on emails and yahoo.

confused

I hate when ppl type in text shortcut. pissed

Yes, I am old.

One of my sisters lives in another state...she doesn't have a computer or

a cell phone, so we rely on her land line and letters to one another. We also

exchange photos like you do.

As for text messaging, my daughter and I exchange them often. She's very

busy (in another state also), so this is a simple way for her to communicate

when she's on the fly. If we talk on the phone, we always end up talking

for at least an hour (usually longer), even if we think we're not going to lol

I'm not big on text shortcut either, so I refuse to even learn it lol

Yes. I use cursive almost exclusively, although I've adapted a few letters to my own so it's not exactly like how we were taught in elementary school.

I sometimes get compliments on my handwriting. Maybe I'll try to post a sample later tonight or this weekend.

It was much harder to for me to write normally when I was trying to make a sample! I think it's easier for me to write nicely when I'm just writing my own thoughts and not so focused. lol

Here is a sample of my typical "everyday" writing, taken from my notes of a curator's lecture (you can see that spelling is not my strong suit!):

[img:$uid]http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/jone70/Misc/bad236d8.jpg[/img:$uid]

Here is a sample of me trying to make something for this thread:

[img:$uid]http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m301/jone70/Misc/c8e5d8f9.jpg[/img:$uid]

I had a really hard time just straight printing; as you can see some of my letters connect together like in cursive. The middle section is supposed to be my "best" writing, but I don't feel like it looks that nice. The bottom section is supposed to be "everyday" writing.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Cursive is gorgeous, especially when a teacher had neat writing when learning it. However when I read notes at work in cursive, it takes me twice as long to read it from printing. I don't mind it though, and I think I write faster in cursive, but tend to have messy printing when taking quick notes and some of the letter join together.

There are only a handful of ppl I can talk to on the phone without feeling really uncomfortable. Keep it to a minute or less and I'm usually ok. If the phone rings and it's not my wife I'm often filled with dread. boxed

Yes, many of the characters are not fully formed. The Vs look too much like Rs. I think because it's not traditional cursive, but more of a unique combination of cursive and print is what's confusing me. Asthetically though, it looks very nice. Much nicer than my cursive. smile

I devised that script myself out of necessity (never got taught fancypants writing like you pout ) I always used to print but joined up the letters to write faster. That's it. I like a man with good writing batting eyes
