maybe all along I was just giving him too much credit and ignoring tell tale signs that I don't really jive with him that much.

i spent the better part of 40 years seeing only the best in people, completely blind to the worst and all points in between.

my naivety saved me from being raped on several occasions, cuz i was so damn innocent they suddenly felt bad and moved on.

i've hung out with gun-wielding drug dealers, murderers, thieves and violent gangs, and none of them ever laid a hand on me cuz i only saw the best in them.

i treated them like who they really were deep down inside, not who they'd become, and they loved me for it.

alas, i discovered there are worse people on this earth than murderers with a soft underbelly; some people are far more deceptive, far more cunning and much more malevolent.

they wound you in subtle ways, like rounding up a sheep for the slaughter, they get you corralled and entice you with some nice green grass, all fake with white shiny teeth, then they have their way with you in worse ways than rape.

sorry if thats getting a bit heavy and extreme, but my point is, regarding being realistic, you gotta pay attention to those signs you mentioned, never ignore them, they are there for a reason.

cuz the ones that can hurt you the worst are often the ones you suspect the least.

wisdom, especially on the internet. imo. heart

yeah, I kinda see what you are saying with that... and it can go in a lot of different directions too.

For example, something some woman said on a documentary I watched called the science of evil. She worked with some international food program bringing staple food into the Congo and her job was a very dangerous one at times. During part of the interview she said something to the effect of the murderers and rapists over there doing the things they do, but also something about evil also being those who sit in million dollar homes built by the blood of others.

I know that is different than your example but the point being people of all walks of life can really be cut throat. Perhaps it's not with an actual knife but can be just as destructive. I have been afraid at times that I was letting too much in people slide... insidious things I notice that you would really have to think about but could mean something very profound and revealing about a person. I have also thought that I was thinking about those things too much. I have tried different things with people.... to the point of extreme ends of this spectrum.

I think I tend to lean to toward being weary of others, while maintaining a distant seemingly aloof but observational position in real life. I do agree that you have to pay attention to detail. That is my conclusion. Details can be very revealing about others.

I think it persisted becasue the guy is not really so bad, but he is younger than me and coming from a different place in life and the situation was not really threatening... concerning any little details I might have noticed over time. He showed enough positive characteristics to make a good run of it... as someone I was convinced was decent. In the end, it's just took a different turn.

I will talk to people casually online but I am pretty selective in people wh are actually close to me.

I think I am just startled at the sheer quantity of people I have not gotten along with in the long run.

I realize this may say something about me to others but I have SERIOUSLY put thought in this.

I know I don't walk around with ill will towards people... so I have even considered that maybe I'm just driving them crazy somehow, but with many it's just instantaneous... and some are just downright greedy inconsiderate people.

Life is so crazy. There HAS to be sane people, though! There just HAS to be progression and resolution to our crazy crazy lives.

or do the ones that make it just go crazy and die?

confused

ok... I really need to stop rambling about this. eek

E-thugs, mfers who act rough from behind their computer, talking all kinds of smack. Every site has their share of them. But they'd never talk shit to someone's face in the street with no backup.

werd!

A truly disheartening thing when I started using the internet is that some people do behave completely different than they do in real life and most of the time, that is for the worse.

Then it dawns on you... they are cowards... and the things that you start seeing in the things they write, it's creepy... because even if you don't know them- you know whoever that is, that is their true colors they are showing... and it's NOT good.

I am waiting for my gluten test results to come back. Dr says it can take 4 weeks. Still have no clue what is going on with my stomach. It is frustration not feeling like yourself.

comfort

Dr gave up and just said I must have IBS and see a specialist.
