I've been extremely interested in all things WW2 for about 20 years now

unfortunately, I'm not really down with the vast majority of HBO's programming

Loved it mate. I was glued to it on TV and then my missus got the box set for me and I sat and watched all six discs on the saturday it arrived. Well worth it. Makes you realise what those guys did for us.

Yeah, I got the Box Set and watched the whole lot in a d ay aswell. Gripping stuff. Episode 9 is a real choker, I was fighting back the tears. I usually get a bit pissed off with American War Films because they change things so it look like they did it (U571 for example) but this was bang on and we in the UK owe a lot to them guys for what they did. But we did a lot too, the Americans sometimes forget that.

I've seen it on tv, twice, once on BBC and then the whole
series again on Dutch tv. I thought it was very good.

Officer "Geller" wink was a bit out of place if you ask me,
in this serious kind of show. It was just like Phoebes
could pop 'round the corner any minute to sing them a song
about Smelly Cats.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I think this should be shown in schools. People have no idea of what war actually is and this really shows it.

It is so powerful to see the kids surrounded in death, just to protect this country.

Growing up around the Vietnam era war movies where the soldiers didn't know why they where there, I never really understood.

With this series it shows a war that has a bad guy and a distinct goal. We have those kids who lost their lives to thank for our current way of life.

People are always saying "no war" or "peace, not violence" but from history (and this series shows it) the world should have been more aggressive with Hitler. It may have actually saved some lives - the Jews.

I actuallt felt that David Schwimmer was excellent in this, he played a real bastard, a total departure from his role in friends. He also looked just like the real Sobel.

It shows the pro's and cons of war. The cons, needless death od innocent people (German, American, English etc. a lot of the German Soldiers did not want to fight but where forced) The pro's, a kind of friendship that we will never know. Those guys where so close, I would love to be that close to my friends.

I love it. For me, it surpasses Roots as the greatest piece ever produced for television.
