B.E.T. / Centric / TVOne

What do you think of these channels and which African American dominated cable channel do you see succeeding in the near future (which one has lasting ability)?

Your thoughts?

Honestly, I wish there was more variety on those stations. I gave up on BET a long time ago but I remember being excited when Centric premiered. I assumed they'd show a lot more classic concerts and clips like the teaser suggested. And does TVOne have the rights to any other sitcom aside from Good Times??

hahah...I think they show Martin, Wayans Bros. and In Living Color too right? Or is that Centric ??? confuse

Unsung gets a big clapping from me...we get updates on important r&b artists that would probably never get any airtime had it not been for TVOne doing a special on them.

yeahthat

BET is dead.

I appreciate that we have TV One and Centric but they tend to show the same things over and over. With TV One I appreciate shows like Unsung and Life After (Dont know if that's coming back) but we need more.

And I love the Martin, Cosby and In Living Color reruns...but I say more original shows. Dont really like Love that Girl even though I love Tatyana Ali.

With Centric its more of the same as well....I'd appreciate more classic concerts from a wider range of artists...there are so many.... not just reruns of SoulTrain from the 70's. And new shows that cover fashion, entertainment and politics so it's more well rounded.

Tv-One and Centric is the stuff! I watch that when I'm twisting my hair up or cleaning house. I will watch Unsung all day long and cry my eyes out over some of them like Minnie and the one that came on last night about Teena Marie. I only watched BET because The Game and Girlfriends are on that channel. Other than that, I'm in Honey Badger mode about BET--I just don't give a shit! lol

Centric and TVOne have the potential BET had 25 years ago.

Much more

Sanford and Son, Jeffersons, Different World, Martin, Living Single. I think those are the shows on regular rotation.

The PJs, Cedric The Entertainer Presents come on weekdays,

The Hughleys, Eve, Tracy Morgan Show are on the network and will run every fews weeks or so.

Hangin With Mr. Cooper, The Parent Hood and Roc used to come on, haven't seen them in about a year.

I', suprised the haven't gotten the rights for Family Matter and Fresh Prince. They've been of prime time reruns for a while now.

Centric Shows my favorite In Living Color, also Steve Harvey SHow, Cosby Show, and Jamie Foxx Show.

TV One REALLY needs to step it up with the programming (If they do one more MJ "marathon" with the same 3 specials, I'm gonna go to Cathy Hughes' house and put her ass in the Figure Four leg lock) and please improve "Love That Girl". The show has potential but it's lacking in comedy

BET needs to call it a day. Centric is okay but they need to cut it out on Miami Vice

I would loved to have had BET in the 1980s before the shit hop era. I got it in the early 1990s and it was still decent but by the mid 1990s, it was absolutely horrible. I've never had TV One because it's on a higher priced cable package in my area. From what I've seen on youtube and from DVDs that friends have made me, "Unsung" seems great.

As for Centric, they seemed to be on the right track when they first came on the air with old episodes of "Soul Train" but then they started airing episodes that had been previously shown on WGN just two years earlier and they also started reairing episodes that they had previously shown themselves. There is a whole decade and a half worth of good "Soul Train" episodes (1970s and early 1980s) but they wanted to take a dozen episodes and show them over and over. When I moved last year, I didn't even get cable because it's not worth the money. I'm assuming Centric is still playing the same old episodes. And as for Centric's other programming, they also seemed to pick the most popular and "elite" artists to feature who have been worn out over the years. Show some damn funk!

Those are exactly the type of shows that I don't want to see because they have been shown over and over and over in recent years to the point that you know every single line of the scripts.

Show something that hasn't been aired in years such as "That's My Mama", "Different Strokes", "Gimme A Break", "The White Shadow", etc.

Centric still play some of the same episodes...I have seen almost every era of Soul Train so far..I used to record it...but it came on so often on my dvr I could not catch up.

Unsung is great...awesome show and worth watching. Denise Williams came on last night I believe.

I agree that there are so many other great shows that haven't been aired that they could introduce to a new generation because other channels show those I mentioned as well and so it does get very repeatitive...but imma tell you right now Martin is my show!....I have seen every single episode and I still laugh myself something silly everytime I watch..it never ever gets old for me.

Gosh like the episode where they went on vacation and their suite was a hell hole...and Gina sees this squirrel-like looking animal and goes..."Oh look baby a puppy"...and he goes.."That ain't no damn puppy Gina"..it was a super sized rat...and they go into full on war attack on this animal...one of my fav episodes......kills me everytime..I laugh until I cry and cant speak...

Dont mind me... lol

I just wish we could get great shows again like those of yester year.

with syndication it's hard 2 know what episodes a channel is able 2 air and tho it's great 2 see re runs it would be nice if there were more new shows that can show good talent and programing.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Some of the Unsungs you can even find on the TV One site (full episodes). At the moment, there is someone on youtube posting full uncut episodes on Unsung on youtube, so far they've been really good nod

Hey, I think MTV2 may be trying to compete wih these stations.

MTV has been showing Martin and the Wayans Bro for some months now. And as of today, started showing Malcom & Eddie and In Living Color along with Nick Cannon Wildin' out reruns.

I pretty much don't even watch tv anymore, but when I did, out of the three channels it was Centric and TVOne duking it out, to me.

Like others in this thread have said, BET just sucks ass. It's horrible now. Which is sad because it used to be worth watching.
