Cars 2 anyone? Has anyone seen this one yet?
I just saw it yesterday, and I was kinda disappointed. I had read the critics weren't too enthralled with it either, but I just thought they were just being stuffy and too sensitive. They were actually right! It was devoid of any real emotion, and it just seemed like it would be more at home as a DTV than an actual theatrical release.
Don't get me wrong. It's not a stinker, but it definitely doesn't live up to the reputation Pixar has built for itself with most, if not all, of their prior films, or even the first Cars.
The animation is flawless, but of course what else would you expect. The whole movie is based around Mater (um, McQueen was just the sidekick??), who was funny in the doses we had in the first movie, but for an entire film? Nopers. The whole spy plot in the movie would confuse kids, in my opinion, because a lot of it didn't make any sense. It certainly had it's funny moments, what with all of the car metaphors and whatnot, so don't get me wrong. But, it just didn't have the charm of the first one or something like Up, Wall-E, or Toy Story 3 even (I wasn't the biggest fan of the 3rd one, as it wasn't QUITE as good as the first two, but still very serviceable).
So, if you've seen it, what're your thoughts on it? Anyway, next stop....Transformers.

It was ok. Saw it at the drive-in and spent most of my time texting so guess it didn't hold my attention well.
You'll like Transformers more. It's MUCH better than the second one. Fantastic visuals.

aahhhh but is 2 better than the original?? That first flick was a tough sell for me... a world built around cars and no people... A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon |

Felt much the same as Ren about the first one. I had zero interest in it. What can cars do besides drive? But I finally watched it and didn't mind it at all. Not my favorite of the Pixar films, but it was ok, I didn't feel like I wasted my time.
Didn't really care for part 2 all that much. I fell asleep for the first 20-30 minutes. The rest was way too focused on Mater. The rest of the part 1 crew saw minimal screen time. The friend that I went with said "You know that wasn't bad, but it didn't really feel like a Pixar movie for some reason." I kind of agree with him.
