I bought ten Louis L'Amour books for my vacation Paperbacks, and they cost a total of $18.70 at Half-Price Books.
For Louis L'Amour books, I always buy old paperbacks. Since they're stories about the Old West, I imagine that multiple cowboys have passed these copies around campfires all over the place.
I could download all these onto a Kindle or iPad if I had one, but I wouldn't. It just wouldn't be the same.
I read two of the books over the weekend while we were in Dallas, and bought another one on the way out of town, so now I technically have 11 books for the trip.
I'll probably get through most of them, but I bought more than I thought I could read, just in case.

My grandfather was a Louis L’Amour fan. He always read the old paperbacks too.

What do you do with the books once you've read them? Do you know about paperbackswap.com? It's pretty easy to use and all you have to do is pay for shipping (via media mail), the books are free!
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I've read about 15, and so far I think I'll keep them. But thanks for the tip, that might be a good place to go for hard-to-find books.

I like the Sacketts, too. I've read about 1/3 of the Sackett novels. In fact, I'm on "Treasure Mountain" right now. I've made no attempt to read them in order, but I don't think that's a mistake.
I will check out Clive Cussler, and thanks for the wishes.

Was on a Louis L'Amour kick for a while in high school. Can't remember which titles though.
Pretty sure Borden Chantry was one of them. Beyond that, I can't recall.

he wrote stories of the early frontier days featuring true blue wyatt earp type characters who were quite swashbuckling in a let-me-strap-my-gun-on-and-save-the world/smalltown/ranch/lady kinda of way. quite entertaining
