I just started noticing a few grey chin hairs this very week. Honestly, I was kind of excited about it. I think it looks pretty good - not really worried about getting more of it. But I also have fairly light colored hair already, so maybe its not as obvious when the grey mixes in.

I buy a bottle of Loreal Preference (Mega Reds~Medium Intense Copper Red) and mix it with a 20 volume developer. I've been going grey since 16 years old. I used to do it every 6-8 wks but now that I'm older, my roots seem to be growing faster and my temples are more stubborn. So I do it about every 4 weeks. My rule of thumb is if I can see the grey in pictures then it's time for me to get my roots done. Other than that, learn to love hats, headbands, comb overs...

I was waiting for someone to suggest a hat. I look horrible in hats. I have a tiny head and small features.

pout

I want CarrieMpls hair!

I think I am struggling with this issue because I was always known for my lovely hair. It was the only thing I used to get compliments on. Now I feel like I have had a bad hair day consistantly for about a year now.

awww...

A big part of my secret is having a bff for a stylist. He gives me a STEEP discount and he's awesome at what he does. If I didn't have that advantage things would be different.

Incidentally, my bf has started to sprout a few grey hairs and while barely noticable (since his hair's light anyway) he's all "oh look, I've always wanted to go grey". And darnit if it doesn't look adorable. It's so unfair.

Your BF is adorable I must say! You know who else looks HOT with grey hair? Chris (Anx)

My entire life, until I moved abroad my mom was my hairdresser. Hubby just sent me a text to tell me that he booked me in to get my hair done tomorrow. My annual visit to sort out my grey and the many colours that I have created doing it myself. Acutally, it has been longer than a year for the professional colour. Our son was only an infant the last time that I saw her. SHe probably thinks I am crazy, my husband has to book my appts secretly or I won't go. I just cant bear to think of the cost......

Anxy does have AWESOME grey hair! I agree.

As for you, if it's been over a year and you've been making do on your own, you're due for a treat. Once a year is nothig to feel guilty over. And think how much better you'll feel. smile

I’m blessed in the hair department. I have no greys yet and my stylist is a dear friend who gives me a significant discount on his services.

My mom is about 75% grey but my dad still only has a few silver hairs around his temples (though, he’s been balding for as long as I can remember and only has that patch of hair around the sides and back now). I’m thinking I’m gonna take after my dad. Hopefully, I won’t go bald too.

As far as I know, "grey" is the Canadian or British spelling, and "gray" is American, but are they interchangeable in the US? Is it okay to spell it "grey", as in "Greyhound"? Or did you just make a typo (well, not really a typo since it is the English spelling).

I don´t have gray hair yet, maybe just two or three strands occasionally (but then again, I had one or two as a teenager, too, it just comes and goes). I heard eating olive oil and rubbing it into your hair are supposed to help.

Even Puff Daddy, James Brown and Prince said so... wink

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

actually I started getting grey hair when I was 21. sad

Any of you colour your greys? If so, what product do you use? Do you do it yourself or do you get it done professionally?

I am really struggling with my hair colour issues at the moment. About 4 1/2 years ago I started colouring my hair dark, same as my natural roots. My hair grows really fast. So trying to keep up with dark blonde/light brown hair was pointless once I moved away from the sunshine state.

Now my natural hair is 60% dark dull brown and 40% grey.

I just did my permanent colour two weeks and one day ago. Today I woke to sparkling grey roots already.

sigh

Maybe buying a wig would be more cost effective and less time consuming.

I want to go back to highlights on top to just break up and hide the grey but it is really hard to do yourself.

Anyone have any tips for hiding grey hair?

What's wrong with grey hair?

When I start going grey I'm just gonna let nature take its course. Few things are cooler to me than an old person with a head full of blinding white (or grey) hair - shit's classy.

Grey hair looks awesome on many ppl, just not me. Maybe when I am 100% grey I will change my mind.

I refuse to EVER have gray hair! And no I don't dye it; if I don't acknowledge it, it doesn't exist! hmph!

You. too, can get the silver rinse that was popular with my Grandmother's generation! All the hot senior ladies sported this look in the 1970s-80s:

Felling better, hair coloured and I did my yearly visit to get it done professionally and got some highlights. Also found a hat that looks relatively ok on me. woot!
