Danny Aiello on Carson ... a few questions 1) Has this guy ever had a decent part in his whole career? (Except for the Papa Don't Preach video)
2) Has this guy ever done any decent acting jobs in his whole career? (Except for the Papa Don't Preach video) 3) Has he accumulated any good stories throughout the course of his whole career? (Except for ones about Madonna during the Papa Don't Preach video)

Sal in "Do the Right Thing," for which he was nominated for an Oscar, and for which he wrote or co-wrote most of his character's dialogue with Spike Lee. You can keep the mule.

Yeah, I watched the interview too. Ho hum. Notice DeNiro was first choice. I wonder how many times this guy's picked up DeNiro's cast-offs or sloppy seconds...

1. Has Aaron ever seen Aiello in a decent role in his whole life? (Except for the Papa Don't Preach video)
2. Does Aaron know what a decent acting job is? (Except for the Papa Don't Preach video) 3. Has Aaron ever accumulated any Danny Aiello movies in his whole life? (Except for the Papa Don't Preach video) 4. Does Aaron get all of his information from the world of Madonna? 5. Is the level of "celebrity" equivalent to the level of actor? Aiello's resume includes: Bang The Drum Slowly The Godfather Part II The Front Hooch Blood Brothers Defiance Hide In Plain Sight Fort Apache, The Bronx Chu Chu and The Philly Flash The Natural Once Upon A Time In America Broadway Danny Rose The Purple Rose of Cairo Radio Days Moonstruck Good Morning Vietnam Do The Right Thing Jacob's Ladder Ruby... My Sentiments exactly.the Cat is Mad Versatile as well.I wasn't feeling His TV Mafia Movie"The Don" , but I truly dig Danny Aiello He was tight in "29nth Street".His Son is a Pretty Good Actor as well.Danny was cool for His Role in "Harlem Nights" as well IMHO.2. Please. Don't tell me that's not the first thing you think of when you see him. 5. Is the level of "celebrity" equivalent to the level of actor?
In this case, they are equivalent Aiello's resume includes:
Bang The Drum Slowly The Godfather Part II The Front Hooch Blood Brothers Defiance Hide In Plain Sight Fort Apache, The Bronx Chu Chu and The Philly Flash The Natural Once Upon A Time In America Broadway Danny Rose The Purple Rose of Cairo Radio Days Moonstruck Good Morning Vietnam Do The Right Thing Jacob's Ladder Ruby... Yes... and the question still stands: how many of them did he have a decent part in and how many of those did he do well? If you've got the energy/resources to post the list, give us a review of his performance in each, please!

He was also in The Protector with Jackie Chan. Its a 1985 cop action film (Jackie's first US film I think) , it was a complete disaster for Jackie Chan and tubs ..err Aiello didn't help.

Please. Don't tell me that's not the first thing you think of when you see him. The first thing I always think of his Sal the pizzeria owner. Yes... and the question still stands: how many of them did he have a decent part in and how many of those did he do well? If you've got the energy/resources to post the list, give us a review of his performance in each, please!
I think he did a pretty good job in capturing the complexity of Sal in Spike's flick--his wasn't some one dimensional racist or goody two shoes liberal. At the end of the day, Sal comes across like a man just tryin to make a way for him and his two sons, trying to calm the racist leanings of one of them. At the same time, he's caught up--a business proprietor in the black community--and all the questions that it raises in terms of what if any is the reciprocal responsibility of that. Not overly sympathetic but not demonized either, Sal was not an easy role to play and I think he did a helluva a job. All other character actors pale in comparison to Don Cheadle...who really shows that the talent of an actor is not proportionate to the role he is given. If you are good you can shine in ANY role no matter how small.

Danny Aiello is a great character actor:
http://us.imdb.com/Name?Aiello,%20Danny If you want a nice movie, with a bit of a mafia zing and the flavor of an on stage play, check Dinner Rush If you're looking for good camp with action and comedy, check Hudson Hawk Fact is, many of the movies he has done have him in a supporting role. That's not a bad thing in my opinion as he usually makes the leads look a lot better. BUT NOBODY CAN DENY THE POWER OF BRUNO KIRBY!!! http://us.imdb.com/Name?Kirby,+Bruno BRUNO KIRBY OWNS YOUR SOULS! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

He was great in "The Professional" with Natalie Portman (one of her 1st roles).
Wasn't he also in "Jungle Fever", as Annabella Scioris' dad? I think he's fantastic as an actor. |

In Aaron's world. Aiello's resume includes:
Bang The Drum Slowly The Godfather Part II The Front Hooch Blood Brothers Defiance Hide In Plain Sight Fort Apache, The Bronx Chu Chu and The Philly Flash The Natural Once Upon A Time In America Broadway Danny Rose The Purple Rose of Cairo Radio Days Moonstruck Good Morning Vietnam Do The Right Thing Jacob's Ladder Ruby... I've seen about 6 or 7 of those movies I listed, and in ALL of them he was fiercely more interesting than as Madonna's father in Papa Don't Preach. Trust me. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
