I'll assume that you're referring to the gym.

3x a week (Mon/Wed/Fri) because that's what I've read is optimal.

Isn't 7 days a week a bit excessive and possibly detrimental to your goals? question question question

I know you asked the other 2 but I wanted to chime in biggrin It depends on what they did the day before... If say they worked out arms and upper body one day, they can do legs another... If they ran one day they can do cross training a different day... I run everyday... some days further or faster than others but if I put in a 10 miler or more, i take the next day off, or back off the distance for the next day to give my body a rest...

I've been falling off the wagon - I'm down to about 2 days per week - but I usually do something active on at least 2 other days.

This week I'll be back up to running 3 times a week and hitting the gym at least once (for weights or yoga).

I also bought a bicycle a few weeks ago and plan to start riding a bit more. Going for a bike ride tonight, actually. smile

nod

I would personally always take 1 day off, but yes, it's all in what you work. I only run 3 days a week, but I do other stuff on other days. Yoga, weights, ride my bike, etc. As long as it's mixed up (weights one day, run the next, or like tinaz said, upper body one day, lower the next) you're good to go every day.

I’m pretty lucky. Minneapolis is the bike friendliest city in the US (named so last year). We have miles and miles of trails as well as bike lanes on lots of major city streets. I got my bike used for a really good price and because biking is so popular, there’s lots of used and refurbished bikes to choose from.

Try craigslist maybe?

I bike a few miles every evening. Does that count? boxed

I'm also in the process right now of clearing up a section of my basement that I will be turning into workout space. I'm afraid I'm too shy for a gym.

I got mine on eBay. The shipping costs were not great, but not horrible -- and they were offset by the great deal I got on a pretty good bike.

Many cities also have several bike exchange-type outlets. You'd be surprised at the quality stuff you can find. Bike geeks constantly upgrade, getting rid of stuff that more casual bikers would consider treasure.

Funny...I'm the opposite of you. I like working out more in the winter to keep me warm.

I get hot easily, so summer workouts, even at the gym, take me forever to cool back down.

I'm doing 2 days/week right now. I push myself to the max with every workout, though!

Sometimes it depends on how busy I am at my job, sometimes it depends on how energetic and healthy I feel ( sure, working out can help, but if you´re VERY stressed out and exhausted and don´t sleep more than 4 hours, a hardcore workout can be detrimental).

So, in a nutshell, I´d say at least three days a week, sometimes four.

Also depends on the method I´m using at the moment ( H.I.T or volume training, split training or whole body workout).

For me it´s just a matter of a couple of weeks to get into perfect shape, so I´m not that worried about getting a bit lazy sometimes.

I want to focus a bit on reducing certain stress factors these days. And I´ve changed my diet.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I try to go at least 3 days a week. If I don't go to the gym, then I try to walk home from work (about 1.5 miles). If I go to the gym at least 50 times within 6 months, my health insurance will reimburse up to $300 worth of my gym membership fees, so that's also a motivation.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Working out is unique to the individual. When you read fitness books, etc., they all vary. For me working out 7 days a week is beneficial. I go to the gym 5 days a week, and have some equipment at home. I never work the same body part without 48 hours of rest. My routine is similar to uPtoWnNY's except I workout abs at least 3 days a week too and a cardio day.
