Remember when I posted about the positives and negatives of Google's Chrome? OKAY... I'm seriously thinking of installing it again - and keeping it, but I want it to install on my NTFS D drive. I don't know why but every time it installs, it's automatically at the C drive... and while it's easy to find, I don't wanna necessarily find it there. There has to be a way, ANY way to have it load to D and not have to have 0.3 GBs uploaded. I tried to find a way but I figured I wouldn't be able to figure it out but maybe y'all have. If you got any answers to this question, I'm leaving this thread for you. Really the ONLY reason I wanna use Chrome right now - the videos are lagging a bit on YouTube when I watch. Chrome speeds right through. I think that's all I wanna use Chrome for. Thanks in advance.

Why don't you download Chrome and run it from a USB flash drive?

I do got a flash drive but...well I don't know, I just don't want it on my C drive. My C drive is healthy, no worries.

It's got a total of 16.3 GB with 2.7 GB unpartitioned (sp?) and it has more than 8.5 of free space and 7.7 used. I just don't want it on my C drive lol

I don't know. Its themes suck ass. I currently got a leopard print theme on my Firefox browser. All purple.

Matter of fact, I'm kinda debating whether to use Chrome or Opera, the latter browser I have no trouble shipping over to the D drive. I guess it wouldn't hurt to use either because it only eats up 0.3 GB. Don't know, maybe I just like more free space so it wouldn't see like it's matching. I'm not using Safari ever again though, I'll tell ya that.

It's been a while since I last installed and used Chrome (about a year perhaps), but assuming you're running Windows, I can't think of any program that I've ever installed that didn't allow you the option to install it in a location other than the default. The setup usually tells you where it's going to put it, then asks you if you prefer another location.

Are you saying this isn't the case with Chrome? (I guess that's what you're saying, lol).

Okay, I just tried it myself and I see what you're talking about.

Try this: Once you download the ChromeSetup.exe, move that file to your D drive before running it. Chrome now seems to be automatically setting up on the drive that you open the setup file on (which is new to me). So see if moving the ChromeSetup.exe to your D drive FIRST (before double-clicking it) will automatically setup Chrome on your D drive. I think that might work, let me know.

If that's the case, go into BIOS and make your D drive first, download Chrome.

afterwareds go back and put your drives back in their previous order.

I did that lol it still didn't have that option other non-IE browsers have:

"Select folder to install your files in" like if you wanna go to D and have its contents in the Program Files folder of the drive, I don't see it when you download Chrome. It STILL instantly downloads itself into the C drive.

I haven't found a YouTube video who has shown how to do it. Either it's impossible or they're chicken.

Even as "admin". I think it'll STILL go to C drive. I could look it up but from the descriptions I got about how people have tried doing it, it's hard.

^N this is why I stick with firefox. I know it, I like it, and it does what I want it to do. Ill gladly lose a few seconds of speed for all the options firefox gives me, plus that lil fox icon is cute as a button.

Because it's a Google product, and because they're forcing it to setup on C drives only, makes me a bit suspicious. Aside from the fact I wasn't crazy about it in the first place, this is probably just one more reason why I won't be using it, and because I don't have any speed issues. Although my opinion of Chrome could change, we'll watch and see where they go with it. Plus, I'm really sold on Firefox.
