- There's a place here called the Grand Lux Cafe that's supposedly owned by the Cheesecake factory...not as crowded, better prices (ever-so-slightly), and excellent food!

- Never been to Bubba Gump but I was told to stay away b/c it's a tourist trap. shrug

- Famous Dave's is good, but there's a small local chain here called Smokin' Al's that blows them out of the water! nod drool

If any of you out-of-towners come to NYC, you must hit these joints. I guarantee you won't be disappointed;

Bluesmoke(their ribs are no joke!)

California Pizza Kitchen(I love their jambalaya)

Dos Caminos(I go there for the guacamole alone!)

Coppola's Italian

Au Bon Gaut(great place to have lunch, a wide variety of foods. it's on the corner of 30th and 5th)

Check out each individual website for their menus.

The places I eat most often:

Manny’s Tortas (Mexican sandwich place)

Zen Box (japanese yummy lunches)

Q Cumbers (healthy salad bar with lots of yummy options)

Evergreen Café (hole in the wall Chinese place with LOTS of veggie options)

Holyland Deli (middle eastern yummy stuff)

All are Minneapolis independents. There are so many great restaurants here, I almost never eat at chain places. Those are the ones I eat at most often because they are quick, super yummy and on the cheaper side (and/or really close to me). But if I were to list my top 5 dream restaurants, the list would be different.

I forgot to mention Jackson Hole, 3rd Avenue between 36th & 37th Streets. Best burgers in town. You need a knife and fork to eat 'em.

Make sure you ask for the garlic cucumbers. You'll be wolfin' those shits down like tic-tacs!

And try the New England clam chowder if it's their soup-of-the-day.

My favorites are the mexican, pizza and soul burgers. The side orders are a pretty good size, so you'll be taking food home. biggrin
