A Question for the Straight Men (and women)

This is intended for only the straightest men and women, please.

No bis or bi-curious, or bi-centinial or whatever. Just straight as hell....

Question:

Have you ever been suspected of being queer (bi, gay, bi-curious)?

Can you describe the situation?

I went to an exclusive lounge thingy with my gay friend. You know, they kind of place where you have to be on a list or know the right people or whatever. Pretentious bullshit....anyway, my friend knows this chick who knows a guy who works there. He's gay too and he knows my friend, but he never met my friend's bf. So when he saw me he kissed me (straight guys don't kiss over here). He assumed I was the bf. So I guess he thought I was gay.

So the answer is no, but after two short answers like that this thread would definitely fail.

NO , but i have a straight: male friend who is always being mistaken for gay. When he started his last job every one there thought he was gay before they got to know him. we are close friends and i have known him for 7 years . Hes even had gay men come on to him on a few occassions. We laugh about it but we cant figure out why confuse

Yes, a few times. I think a former friend of mine must've always thought I was bi as around the time the death knell was sounding around our friendship he wrote a message to his wife who he was then separated from saying he knew I was a 'bisexual fag' (and for good measure, that I and my wife, who is/was actually bisexual, are basically a menace and shouldn't be around his children - presumably including the one he was at that time shunning as not being his lol ).

Anyway, I digress. On a few occasions my wife has half-jokingly (only half, mind) questioned my sexuality. hmmm

Online several times people have assumed I'm bi or gay. I find it perplexing given my totally macho username. shrug

Yes I assumed you were gay but i'm pretty sure its to do with the kitten picture and the name and the fact you have some fawning female orgers around you "awww fauxie" type stuff which women only usually say to gay men as for a straight guy that would be seen as a come on lol

Yes.

I'm naturally somewhat effeminate, but I enjoy embracing that and even playing it up, Prince-style sometimes, and I'm secure enough in my sexuality to do that and not give a fuck what anyone else thinks.

I can't really think of a good example, but I'm almost positive that some people probably think I'm at least bi.

When I was in high school a friend told me she thought I was a lesbian up until I started dating my boyfriend senior year. When I asked why she thought that, she said cause I never dated anyone and whenever she'd talk about the boys she thought were cute I never agreed.

I found it hilarious and told her I was simply shy with boys (still am) and just didn't have the same taste as she did.

And a few years out of high school rumors floated back to me that "everyone" in my home town thought I was bisexual, 'cause I was spotted at pride by someone who went back and told everyone that. I was just there celebrating my friends. shrug

I don't think anything of it, really. People can think what they want.

A couple of times when I was in highschool and it was supposedly because I didn't have a boyfriend, thought all the boys were skank and ugly, and I wore doc martins. I love, love, love doc martins and they are very fem looking boots to me and I never got the whole lesbo stigma with those shoes.

Once during my adulthood by some immigrant/ignorant s.o.b. coworker who assumed any American woman that wasn't married with kids by age 25 and no plans to do so was either a prostitute or a lesbo. So I guess he thought i was one or the other. Of course, kissing my gal friend at a NYE party in front of him probably didn't help but I was mad drunk at the time so fuck him.

Hey Imago - you ought to start a thread HAVE YOU EVER BEEN MISTAKEN FOR A PROSTITUTE!!!!

Shiit that's happened to me more times than I care to share. pout

well.. sorta..

in my early 20s, when one of my friends came out to our little clique @ work, she invited some of us to her new world so she took us to a lesbian club in Manhattan [somewhere in the W. 30s] one night.

I was the only straight girl in the group (and very "femme" according to her; miniskirt, heels, the whole girly-girl nine.. lol [I used to take her shopping with me when I wanted something cute/sexy; I knew if she liked it, whatever guy I was dating would like it.. wink ]) so she suggested that the only straight guy going pretend to be my "boyfriend" in case anyone tried to pick me up.

A couple of girls did try, and I politely turned them down & pointed to my "bf" (I guess in the '90s if one's arse was in a gay bar, it was safe to assume one was gay..?)

After the 3rd attempt, we started making out.. lol

and we dated for a while after that lol (I had had a crush on him for a while, but didn't know he liked me, too.. shrug )

another time... I don't know if she thought I was a lesbian -- or, more accurately, I doubt she cared whether or not I was straight lol -- but, a girl did grab my ass on the train once in Brooklyn hmph! lol

at first she made me nervous b/c I thought she was in a gang doh! - kind of pretty... slim, but she had hard, well-toned arms.. she was wearing a white sleeveless undershirt/tank thing and a blue bandana folded over into a narrow band & wrapped around her forehead, blue jeans and heavy black boots.. she was a few inches taller than me (as most ppl are.. lol ) and she looked like she could kick ass, if she had/wanted to..

she got on the train an accidentally stepped on my foot. she half turned to say "Sorry.." and I guess she liked what she saw in her glance (stretch jeans, heels and a low-cut V-neck top), so she turned to lean on the door and looked me up & down the whole time like I was a piece of meat neutral --like creepy old men do! lol

I blushed very easily in those days and I think she had a lot of fun with that.. confused lol When my stop came 2 stops later, I mumbled "Excuse me," and went around/past her out the subway doors.. that's when she grabbed my butt.. I turned and looked at her--I'm sure my jaw fell open--and she had the biggest frickin' grin on her face! I turned back around and quickly walked toward the exit.. lol

lol @ "awww fauxie" type stuff

I always hoped it's because I'm a nice guy smile and sure I do interact with online and spend most time in real life around women.

I'm unthreatening. confused I like that though. Women can be friends with me without complications (I'd like to think), which would suggest I'm being a devoted husband and doing what I should. Well done me. lol
