Anyone know how to verify the serial number on a hohner The Prinz guitar ? wanted to make sure its real and date it !

"The Prinz" is a beautiful Guitar isn't it, or at least the Original one

The original ones had a Fender Telecaster styled Headstock, the newer ones dont, Hohner upset Fender with this and had to change the design iirc - I think there are three variations in total, teh original Fender style, then two more, one being a pointy Ibanez looking style and the newest one which is a joke.

Also, try contacting Hohner themselves, you never know, they might be able to help you with the Serial Number.

In 1988 I saw one of the originals for sale for the (sorry for the pun) Princely sum of £175 - I didn't have my Wallet on me so rushed home to get it, by the time I got back to the shop, it had gone

The thing I love most about these Guitars, is teh Bookmatched front and back on the Body, considering how expensive it is to cut wood that way and how cheap these where new.

If you got it for £400 and its an original The Prinz, then I take my hat off to you, I have seen them sell for up to £1200 on Ebay.

Yes I know Ive been looking for a long time got a TE Prinz also couple of years ago paid the same for that so this was a bargain, i saw it on ebay

I would Email or Ring a Hohner ( local specialist / Dealer / Distributor) and ask them. I assume a Guitar Serial number is traceable to some degree. As it would be specific to that Model range, they may even be able to tell you how many Hohner TE Prinz's where made and where yours fits into that.

One more thing, the Guitar Prince used - The one you see on the inside cover of the Vinyl 1999 album is NOT a "The Prinz" so in reality there are four versions of this Guitar, if you count the one prior to "The Prinz" which Prince used in his early years
