I've been watching TNA lately and I really dig the whole "Wrestling Matters" thing they've got going. The clips of fans telling why wrestling matters to them sometimes come off silly, but the wrestlers testimonies, the flashing "Wrestling Matters" signs, the promos with guys immediately after their matches (when they speak as legitimate athletes, not screaming some silly promo) are really good to me.

If they would just cut the ridiculous and old "Authority vs. Whoever" gimmick, shorten the promos and FOCUS ON THE WRESTLING. They have some of the best workers on their roster and some of them could really shine in 15-20 min matches, even an occasional 25-30 min run. And on a side note, THEY MUST STOP TAPING SHOWS.

Guess I'm saying that they've got the ingredients to really put on good quality WRESTLING shows but the folks in charge are even more clueless than the folks running WWE.

Speaking of WWE...HHH is taking over. He already swiped Mistico and Averno from Mexico...Awesome Kong (oops!)...Hero and Catagnoli had in ring workouts prior to Raw and Smackdown this week. I think he's starting a full fledged raid of the indy's.

Should be interesting.

I definitely agree. If they got rid of those terrible backstage videos and cut down on the promos and added more matches, it would be a way better show. and maybe do a show at an actual arena once a month. The shows in North Carolina were packed.

The X Division is criminally underused and The Knockouts Division is way ahead of the WWE's Divas too

WAY ahead of the WWE Divas. The so-called Divas usually only serve as eye candy, save for a couple of them.

I really wish TNA had better success, as they have all the tools and ingredients to do it. I can't stand the WWE not having any real competition and therefore giving us whatever shit they please. They do it because they think the general wrestling fan has nowhere else to go. That's gotta change! They only "step it up" when they feel threatened.

Oh...they feel threatened.

I think Wrestlemania barely got 1 million buys and the early returns on Over the Limit show a ridiculously low 60,000 buys (final number isnt out yet though).

Smackdown ratings are in the toilet...RAW starting to drop. I've been reading the dirt sheets lately and Vince is trying to fool folks into thinking everyone's still watching. From wrestlezone.com...

Tonight on Monday Night Raw, WWE posted a fact (pictured below) stating:

"Last night on USA, over 10,000,000 viewers watched Tough Enough and WWE Raw."

The post is both erroneous and misleading.

First of all, Raw and Tough Enough do not air on USA Network on Sunday nights.

Secondly, and even more importantly, the 10,000,000 number is misleading. A WrestleZone source in the television industry explains, "there haven't been 10 million tuned in to wrestling since The Monday Night Wars. WWE takes the total number of viewers for the 8pm Tough Enough, adds that to the 9pm viewership for Raw, adds that to the 10pm viewership for Raw, and then the viewership for the Tough Enough repeat. They are counting as if each hour has its own unique audience that doesn't stay on or overlap."

In the Internet business, when the same person visits a website more than once per day, he or she is counted as one unique visitor. WWE is not going with the "unique viewer" approach, and the figure of 10 million is, at best, misleading.

I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.

I figured WWE was slipping but wasn't sure. They would do some shit like that... boasting about "ten million". Ain't no ten million gonna spend time watching a male soap opera after 25 years of seeing the same thing. People get tired. lol And it's harder to rear in younger fans who may not even understand what sports entertainment used to represent.

Lol! I remember when that graphic came up! I was like, "Now they're just straight up lyin'!!" I figured, though, they meant to say "last week", but still. As that TV exec explained, they're just stretching to make themselves way more relevant than they are. Who cares if they have more FB friends or whatever than some other people or organizations.

I really do hope Vince is indeed paying attention to the declining numbers, because his product is straight doo-doo right about now. But, if he does notice it, he's not doing shit about it. Everything's still the same. Cena still wins all the damn time, and he's still the same character, a kid-totin' Superman...with new gear every month to make those said kids (or really their parents) spend more and more money every damn month. I guess they have to make up the declining PPV revenue somehow, but damn!! disbelief

They got the hot-as-all-get-up-and-go R-Truth right now, and they'll NEVER give him the title (and I'm sure we all now why). Not just this coming Sunday but at any point, IMO. Maybe a small US Championship, but that means absolutely nothing now. People barely remember who holds it now (Kofi Kingston, which I had to seriously think about to remember).

I tried to watch and get into the PPV earlier tonight, but I just couldn't get into it. I saw most of the first tag team match, but I couldn't even make it past Big Poppa Pump's ring intro. I don't know what it is, but there's something about TNA that's just so generic and boring. The whole Bischoff and Hogan thing is SO old, it's ridiculous, and how many teams are they going to bring Jarrett and Angle together because of the whole divorce thing?

Their only interesting characters are former WWE employees, but when they get there, there's really no more growth. I always hate when they try to break up the Dudleys like they've done and WWE did before too. They should ALWAYS remain a team.

The only good thing in wrestling right now is the emergence of R-Truth!! He has been INCREDIBLE since turning heel a couple of months ago. It's a shame that they're going to let Cena win yet again at the next PPV and keep the championship and not give it to Truth. I would love to see what his reign would be like. I'm a little sick of the "you won't be champion if you have bad mic skills" thing. The WWE has put the belt on plenty of guys who either can't talk, can't wrestler, or can't do either.

Great Khali for one.

Jeff Hardy was never great on the mic.

Randy Orton hasn't had an interesting promo in years.

Batista was boring as shit until he turned heel.

The WWE was behind these guys and was heavily invested in their success despite their shortcomings. If you're creative enough, you can hide a person's shortcomings and accentuate their positives as Paul Heyman would say.

The WWE didn't push Shelton because they didn't want to push Shelton.

Listening to an interview with Low-Ki who went by Kaval in the WWE, they pretty much didn't have any plans for him. Even though he was going out there and having the best matches. He was over with the fans. Hell, he even made LayCool interesting. But, the WWE wasn't behind him. So, they released him right before Christmas.

I agree with you, I was just stating why many feel some guys don't make it, although I do feel it plays a part sometimes. I think Vince's fascination with looks is a factor too

I thought I was the only one who thought Kaval being with Laycool was interesting. They could've made a really good angle with him being with them

Thinking of Layla, it's crazy how Cody Rhodes got with Beth Phoenix and now, he's with Layla! eek lol

[Edited 6/12/11 23:00pm]

shit i wouldn't kick beth out of my bed and didn't cody go with mickie james too?

oh god don't get me started on how WEAK ass the divas division is on WWE or how they under use the true female wrestlers there. i love the knock out division on tna cause they got the ring skills mostly.

and one last thing (i think), is it me or is RVD just tired on TNA?

I usually watch WWE from January thru Wrestlemania...pay for the Rumble and WM, and thats it.

I didnt do that this year and dont see myself doing it next year.

Rumored core WM card for next year:

Title Match--Rock vs. Cena

Title Match--Del Rio vs. Orton

HHH vs. The Miz

Undertaker vs. Jericho

Sin Cara vs. Misterio

No thanks.

shit i wouldn't kick beth out of my bed and didn't cody go with mickie james too?

Man, Beth Phoenix could get it from me all day long!!!! There's something about her body that's HOT!!! And her face is cute, too. Winning combo. Add the great titties, and you've got the perfect trifecta! lol

But, she's dating CM Punk now. How much Diva pussy has Punk run through, man?? Save some for the rest of mankind, please!

damn something about punks body says 2 me that she's the one dominating him lol

but i guess the credo is they are both in the business and it's "safer" 2 date within ur own

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
