As an aging hipster who was 11 - 20 in the '70's, let me tell you what I liked best.
1. The cars. The cars were the BOMB. Especially muscle cars. The Plymouth Superbird, the Mustang Shelby, the Chevrolet Camaro Z-28, the Dodge Challenger, the Pontiac Trans Am SD 455, the Plymouth Hemi' Cuda, the Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 - the list goes on and on. These are the most desirable and valuable performance cars on the market today. A '71 Hemi 'Cude convertible can go for as much as $2 million. Other cars were great, too. Personally, I think the 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix is the greatest two-door sedan ever built. But the cars were just awesome.
Uh...not ALL the cars were that great. My first car was a Pinto.

And don't forget horoscopes, back then the first thing to ask when you met somebody was "what's your sign?"
Then of course you had your mood rings, streakers, pet rocks.
Does anybody remember earth shoes?
i do not have beads hanging in the doorway, nor is the carpeting underfoot that green shag. but ding diddly dang it to heck there is a lava lamp in the room here with me as i type this
I have a lava lamp too,
And I KNOW you wore earth shoes.

Heeeeeeyyyyy...that was before they found out the engines blew up if you hit them in the rear. And it was my first 5-spd. I learned to drive a stick in that Pinto.
It wasn't my very first car but it was my first 'divorced' car. I had some hot 'single' times in that little green bastard.

Channels 2, 4, and 7 was network TV. That's it, that's all! 5 and 11 was local out of Charleston, SC and 11 was PBS if I remember correctly. I showed my kids an old TV guide my grandmother had from the 70s and they couldn't believe it.
How did we ever manage with just those stations?

At some point in the future, every family will probably have their own network. Then people will wonder how we ever managed with just 1000 cable stations, lol.

Imagine that! Back in the day, when you could have a weekend of unprotected sex, and your only worry come Monday morning was whether you'd get a call back or not, lol.

Well not THAT color green. More like a dark forest green...(like that's any better)

I know. I grew up in the 70's and we only had 7 channels to watch and I would just watch TV all day! Now, there are 207 with very little interesting programming on any of them!

Those monsters put me through SO many nightmares when I was a kid
That's okay, lol. We all have our issues, lol. I was always freaked out by those giant Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloons! (...and am still not that fond of them, lol).

Nooooooo...not the sparkly glitter paint! My grandmother bought a Matador station wagon with brown paneling exactly like this and it was so fugly.
And this is what I got my permit in...although it was beige.

The uhf channels had all the good cartoons. Every day after school nobody had to worry about where the kids were.

Right. And remember Saturday morning cartoons? Man, I used to be up every Sat morning watching cartoons from 7a to 12p. And they had them on CBS, NBC & ABC. Kids now days don't know what that's like.

Oh lord yes! Except, it came on at noon on Saturdays here in Michigan. We used to have a local personality named Sir Graves Ghastly who showed old horror movies on Saturday afternoon, also. He'd scare the crap out of me whenever he'd raise up out of that damn coffin!
