I read that shit.

They could have at least tried to make it sound like Tracy wrote it, lol.

"While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context," added Morgan.

I DARE his drunk ass to read that shit out loud. lol

Ann Coulter: I Would Tell My Gay Son He Was Adopted

Ann Coulter, the radical, right-wing pundit cum GOProud paid promoter and “Demonic” author, said if she had a gay son she would tell him he is adopted. Coulter appeared Tuesday night on the Fox News channel’s show “Hannity.”

Earlier in the week, Coulter had been asked by CNN host Piers Morgan how she would react if she were to have a child who was homosexual. Despite her affiliation with the conservative gay Tea Party group, Coulter repeatedly had refused to answer the question.

Isn't Mr. Morgan a comedian? Than all nothing is off limits; I've seen Tracy live as well, he's an equal opportunity offender. You don't think it's funny than its not.

Years ago I was watching Live At The Apollo, and they had a comdedian that came out talkin' about black people living in the projects. He was brutal and some sistas in the front row took exception and started arguing with the guy; they were soooo pissed security has to escort them out.

HA HA... it wasn't funny to them, oh well. shrug

[Edited 6/10/11 8:55am]

nod

I remember seeing him on Def Comedy Jam as a relative unknown yeeeaaaarrrrs ago, and he laid into this really offensive bit on Puerto Ricans - including yelling at Latina-looking women in the front row, "yeah, that's right, MAMI, I'm talkin about CHU!" But he was yelling at them in a really aggressive way and not at all like he was letting them in on the joke.

They booed the shit out of him. lol

I always astounded me how people could laugh at Eddie Murphy's Gay/Aids jokes, and they definitely had the potential to color people's perceptions of homosexuals. The Morgan's comments go from ghetto to fag-bashing in about the time it take to flip a switch.

Tracy has been telling crude gay jokes since Def Comedy Jam. Anybody that knows his work shouldn't be surprised because this is part of his schtick if you will.

I have a feeling this offended audience member is trying to pull an Isaiah Washington bash move and get Tracy's career in hot water. The guy is probably unaware that Tracy would revel in the publicity.

hmmm I question whether he can actually read at all.

However, Rogers said that this didn't feel like humor; Morgan's whole demeanor changed when he started in on the gay jokes and that he seemed "truly filled with hate against us."

I think THAT is the point at which Morgan lost control of his "joking". And I think he probably slipped up and began sharing his true feelings. That's when his rhetoric went from HUMOR to HATE (when his demeanor shifted). Had his demeanor NOT changed, he may have been able to pull those jokes off. Also, whether these are his true feelings or not, whether he was joking or not, the content of what he was saying will rally some (who are already predisposed that way) toward further hate of gay people.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Tracy, and I'm a big fan of irreverent humor (Joan Rivers, Don Rickles, Bernie Mac), but I feel that he definitely lost control of himself, and I don't care as much for him now as a result. I mean; I don't hate him now, just don't like him as much as I did prior to this incident. The whole 'stabbing his son in the heart' part for being gay went too far... for me.

Morgan's demeanor in his stand up never really changes. Yell, you'll be suprised if you see hime smile or smerk.

Yes, I'm familiar with his deadpan delivery. But, if an eye-witness to this specific incident noticed a change in his demeanor, and we know something occurred that Morgan felt a need to apologize for, I would tend to accept that his demeanor probably changed. Nevertheless, I respect that you feel that's not likely.

I'm guessing this dude didn't know what to expect at a Tracy Morgan show.

Maybe a year or so ago in the news, I remember some lady saying she wet to a Morgan show and was shocked. She didn't expect him to be this raunchy. These fans are thinking they will get a prime time version of Morgan, but they are gettin' the 2 AM late show club version.

In the original post, the guy said he's been a fan of him since his SNL and 30 Rock fame. NOthin was spoken on his Def Jam beginings, his Uptown Comedy Club beginnings, his hosting Comic Remix or his 2 Stand up Comedy Spacials from Comedy Central and HBO.

My mom is a big fan of Mark Curry from Hangin' WIth Mr. Cooper fan. She thought he was a clean cut comic aka like Cosby or something. I told her, you not gonna get the same stuff from his show that you get from his stand up. She couldn't believe it when I showed her his stand up special from HBO years ago.

I understand, and appreciate the examples you've given to support your disposition.

Personally, I'm very familiar with Tracy Morgan's routine, from Def Jam to 30 Rock, and am still turned off by jokes about stabbing a gay son in the heart. Bernie Mac had a way of making very crude remarks about a gay child in ways that still allowed you to laugh, BECAUSE I feel he remained in control of his demeanor. He never lost the sense that he was making a joke. I feel Tracy lost control of his demeanor, that it likely shifted toward anger (as some have noted) if even momentarily, which is why he finds himself apologizing today. That is; if we are to accept that his apology was from the heart.

I wonder how people feel about Lisa Lampanelli?

Her act would make Tracy Morgan's look like a kumbaya sing-along.

I'm disappointed, because I really dig Tracy. But our point of contact is his being funny, not his holding social views entirely in keeping with mine -- and elsewhere he's is darned funny.

He's certainly said some raunchy stuff in the past for which he didn't apologize. He did apologize for this, though, so I'm assuming he earnestly realizes he did go overboard here. I accept the apology and hope he follows through with more sensitivity to an area that has been really painful for some of his audience.

Its not a coincidence lol Her act is a liberal's nightmare. Miss Trina said earlier that in comedy "all limits are off", well in Lampanelli's act, "limits" are not even a concept,,,,hell, even disabled people are not off the hook.
