James Arness Dies: 'Gunsmoke' Star Dead At 88

James Arness

One of my all time favorites TV shows and one of best written TV series ever. Needless to say, Mr. Arnes and the late actor Peter Graves are brothers.

May James Arness R.I.P dove dove dove

I hate when famous people pass away that I thought had already passed away. It makes me feel like I could have been appreciating them more while they were living. My parents were HUGE "Gunsmoke" fans, so it was always on in our home. He's with his brother, Peter Graves, now. May they both be resting peacefully.

Wow. Matt Dillon just died?!! I thought he died years ago. I'm glad he lived such a long lfe. I have great memories of watching him as a kid. Ride off into the sunset, Mr. Arness... sun

Yep, the last of the orginal cast members... gone to glory.

I still watch Gunsmoke, on Encore & WeTV. I'm partial to "Gunsmoke" when it was filmed in black and white.

I also loved James Arness as Zeb Macahan in the miniseries "How The West Was Won" and in the spin-off "The Macahans." Great mountain man character--much more loose than Matt Dillon! Bruce Boxleightner also played in the miniseries as his nephew, Luke Macahan. Good show! wink

I dig WeTV. Don't have it at home but enjoy watching The Streets of San Francisco

at work. R.I.P James Arness.

eek You have been deprived. hug lol

Seriously, if you have basic cable they show Gunsmoke on MeTV. What's so funny about these older TV series, none of the main character every, "get any". No lovin', no kissin', nada; Marshall Dillion had upteem women make passes at him but being the gent he was, he always turned them down.

Thanx NDRU biggrin
