Do you ever wish you could say fuck it and go....

I do. I wish I could leave it all behind - the bills - the house- shitty people with their shitty whining ways - fed up with bitches who are in my life and I can't tell them to piss off.

I would move to Canada - start again - take some courses - be a teacher (I have always dreamed of being a teacher). Get into no more debt - don't have people who piss me off in my life. See the world - have fun - live a little...

sometimes I feel as if I wasted my life chasing money to pay fekking bills!! confused

Gawd it feels better to have a rant!!!

I can definitely sympathize. hug

I'd imagine you could still do many of those things, though, even with your life's current parameters. It's rarely too late to transform.

This actually happened to me.

I was laid off on my job, and dumped basically by my fiance', etc. etc.

I was offered a job after almost a year of searching, but it would have required me

to relocate to Dallas fucking Texas, which I've visited before on business.

I turned that down of course, and end up moving to Thailand and teaching.

I've also re'started writing my book, and have travelled and seen some of the

coolest people. With a little help from family, my debts became manageable,

and now they're actually dwindling in comparison to before.

But, most of all, I'm very happy. Moreso than I've been in years.

So yeah--saying fuck it, even if it's sort of forced upon you at first, is liberating.

I've simplified my life dramatically and I love it!

First of all, I live in a condo, so I don't have to do all of the work owning a house entails.

I've never had any debt and I put away as much as I can for retirement (a certain percentage of my weekly income goes directly into retirement investments). If you have any debt, deal with it ASAP!

I stopped worrying about pleasing people who did not have my best interests at heart.

I stripped down my possessions and expenditures.

I don't travel anymore because I found the negatives outweighed the positives for me (and as a Buddhist dilettante, I believe looking outside yourself for happiness is fruitless, anyway).

The simple life is the only life! cloud9

I am pretty much doing that now!

I just turned in my notice at my job.

I am leaving the country, my friends, my family, etc.

I'm going to live in Argentina for a year (or more)

with nothing planned.

I'm leaving next month!

You can make your dreams come true, too!

You just have to have the courage to get the ball rolling

and the tenacity to not give up.

I'm doing something sort of the same. I'm moving to the States for the first time, all by myself. It's the first time I left my parent's house. I'll finally be living the life I always dreamed of, hopefully. I'm gonna be strapped for money, and I'm a bit nervous. I'll be loaded with student debt...but it can only get better when I graduate.

Time to cut my mother's apron strings.

Yep, somewhere in Florida or Atlanta were seriously on the plate at one time, but I really felt like I would be abandoning folks here if I did so I didn't. Sometimes I doubt I made the right decision, but watcha gonna do.

Before I usually get to that point ~ I have a planned break / vacation ~ normally 2-4 a year where I can be ME ...

Not Wife

Not Daughter

Not Mother

Just me ...

It makes my life feel balanced and rewarding to give myself the breaks that I need to so that when I need to "BE" those other things I am happier and more relaxed

Done it 3 times now. First time for 3 months. 2nd time for a year and the 3rd time was 2 years. Stop thinking about it and just do it.

I love the USA but I love it even more when I leave it behind every once in a while. Can only take so much of reality television and artery clogging food.

woot! woot! woot!

I suppose I kind of did a similar thing when I moved here to start a new life with Christopher. I left the life I'd built for 3 decades (in the only city I ever lived in), came to a state and a culture that I knew almost nothing about, which was as foreign to me as you can get inside the same country, knowing not a soul but my immediate family.

And I love it. lol I hear bits and bobs of drama from back home drifting past my ears, or scrolling down the Facebook screen, and I just laugh. I'm so removed from all the bullshit that many people back there are mired in.

On the other hand, I didn't move here to simplify - quite the opposite! And Chris and I do very often yearn to run away and live more simply - somewhere not quite so hot, boring, backwards, oppressive, economically depressed or culturally bereft. biggrin For him, this is that old place that he's sick of.

It's what you make it.

I ran away from it all in 97, and it was good for me at the time, but a decade later I found I was really interested in reconnecting with that side of myself and my life that I had tried so hard to push aside.

I feel like connecting the two aspects of life and character are making me a more complete person.

I realized that life is cool as long as you live it by your own rules. And luckily I hate traveling (I'd only visit select ancient cities of the mediterranean, lol) so that's not a problem, lol

Every fekking moment of every fekking day.

I decided that I want to sell mangoes out of a cart on Miami Beach. That's my new goal. No more bullsh*t with office work, dealing with fire marshals, no more mortgage, no more bills, no more baby momma drama (I can't call her my "wife" anymore, and she's not my "ex-wife" cuz we're not divorced yet, so I prefer "baby momma").

But once I get that cart, and learn how to cut up mangoes, everything will be fine. I'll just tool around all day staring at hot babes in bikinis.

I felt just like that for about 5 years or so, but for the last year or so I have just been living a much more self-centered life, lowering my expectations for everything, and actually feeling quite satisfied.

I've kinda come to accept that I don't love my life, but it could be much worse and since we're all just sort of biding time here on earth I might as quit complaining and just live. smile
