Queen Latifah is setting off VH1's foray into scripted television as executive producer of 'Single Ladies,' a romantic comedy series debuting May 30 with a two-hour movie premiering before the series settles into 10 hour-long shows starting June 6. The comedic drama stars actresses Stacey Dash, LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea.

The show's plot revolves around best friends Val (Dash), an aspiring fashion mogul, Keisha (McCoy), an ex-video vixen, and the just married April (Shea) as they juggle careers and relationships in the Atlanta fashion and music scenes.

"My partner Shakim Compere and I are excited our production company Flavor Unit is working with VH1 on their first venture into the hour-long scripted series genre," said Latifah in a statement. "'Single Ladies' is a sexy and smart show... something that we feel TV has been missing for far too long and we knew VH1 was the perfect home for it."

The 'Single Ladies' premiere movie will feature appearances from Lauren London, Eve, Common and TLC's Chili. Queen Latifah, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in 'Chicago,' will appear in the movie and throughout the series, too.

The Boombox previously reported that up and coming Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller will be making a cameo in the show. The 'Single Ladies' movie airs Monday, May 30 at 9PM and the series will air on Mondays at 9PM beginning June 6.

All the single ladies can rejoice.

Queen Latifah is bringing a new series about relationships called 'Single Ladies' to VH1. The new hour-long comedic drama follows three best friends with three different relationship philosophies living in Atlanta.

This is the basic cable network's first foray into the hour-long scripted genre.Queen Latifah, who is executive producing the series, will also make a guest appearance.

"My partner Shakim [Compere] and I are excited to collaborate with VH1, as they have a similar vision on how to bring this show to life," Latifah said.

The Academy Award-nominated actress and rapper added, "I think 'Single Ladies ' will really fill a hole in what is needed on television today."

Stacey Dash plays Val, an ambitious aspiring fashion mogul who wants to find a true partner, LisaRaye McCoy is Keisha a former video dancer in search of a sugar daddy to keep her laced in riches and Charity Shea is April, the married friend who learned that finding your true love isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

"I am thrilled about 'Single Ladies!' going to series as Queen Latifah is an icon and a pioneer," Dash told BlackVoices.com today. "It's a blessing to be on her team and VH-1 is the perfect place for us to shine."

Lauren London, Eve, Common, TLC's Chili, and Kim Porter will also make guest appearances.

'Single Ladies' was originally shot as a movie in the summer of 2010, but VH1 decided that the film was so good it needed to be a new television series.

"Once we saw an early cut of the movie we knew right away we needed to make this a series," Jeff Olde, VH1 EVP of Original Programming and Production, said in a statement.

Nah, Shakim is a dude. La's girl's name is Jeanette. They've been together almost 10 years I think.

I like it on VH1 better than BET cuz it'll reach a wider audience.

Maybe her being so free spirited somehow contributes to her looking and feeling so young

May 07, 2011. MediaTakeOut.com is just getting word of some CRAZINESS on the set of Queen Latifah's new show Single Ladies.

According to a member of the staff, LisaRaye McCoy and co-star Stacy Dash got into a FIST FIGHT. The insider told MediaTakeOut.com, "Stacy is crazy, I mean really crazy. She was out of her mind saying very disrespectful things all week."

And LisaRaye was not about to take it. The insider continued, "LisaRaye grabbed her by her hair and flung her around like a rag doll it was funny. Stacey was screaming for help."

But things didn't go further. The snitch told us that security broke things up and the two actresses Stavy (45) and LisaRaye (45) were asked to go home. Filming is set to resume next week . . . assuming tempers cool.

Wow we hope they got that on film.

I am an actress and I have the privilege of working on the set of "Single Ladies" which is a great new show coming to VH1 in May. The cast consist of Stacey Dash and LisaRaye. I have always been a fan of Stacey Dash but after being on set and seeing Stacey I have to say beauty means nothing after seeing how she acts. She's antisocial and mean. She doesn't speak to anyone and as soon as the scene is done she immediately takes off to her trailer until the next take.

I think she's a good actress but who knew her personality was so horrible! last night she and LisaRaye got into it big time. Now we all know that LisaRaye don't take no shit and while on set, Stacey Dash wasn't doing her part correct on set. When the director came to correct her (Stacey), and LisaRaye agreed, she stuck her hand up to her giving her the hand!!! Yes Girl! I just knew Lisaraye was going to to punch her ass like she did the girl in Player's Club! lol LisaRaye was cool about it but let her know to get her Mother Fucking hand out of her face!

Deez beeches ought to B glad they've got jobs. Hasn't anyone told them how hard it is out there for women of color to get employed as actresses? I don't know if I believe that Stacey is "anti-social" but LisaRaye is most definitely ghetto and it wouldn't surprise me is provoked Stacey. Stacey appeared on several eps of The Game TV show and was brought back for a cameo on season 4. If she was a hot mess of a personality we would have heard about it during those tapings. I've only ever heard that Lisa Raye was prone to tantrums.
