There is a rat outside my window He's walking around, looking for food.
I am deathly afraid of rats and other rodents. Like, shaking in my boots afraid. I can't believe I haven't squealed yet. I probably will if I see him again.
My house is rat-proof, I think. We had exterminators gum up every conceivable hole a few years back.
Just to be safe, I ran masking tape along the door seal where the rat was walking. That door needs new weatherstripping - in the daytime, you can see sunshine through the door jamb. Therefore, a rat could conceivably enter through there. Hence, the masking tape.
The odds are that this rat is a hired gun, brought in by the families of the various frogs I've destroyed. Apparently, these frogs play for keeps.
I hope you frog-sympathizers are happy now.
But I've been reading a ton of Louis L'Amour western books, and I've decided I will be a man to ride the river with. I've got the makings. I'm going to be loaded for bear and come a' huntin' hair.
I'll do what needs to be done, if the rat draws cards in this game.

That sucks. I can relate. I've shared my story on here several times of the rat jumping onto my patio with no way for it to get out. Hopefully it doesn't come to that for you.

I am not really afraid of rats, but I must admit that I finally could not take it anymore when sometime ago we had a rat in the bedroom for several weeks and could not get rid of it. It made noise every single night, so afetr long fights with myself I allowed my bf to kill it . I felt really bad , but I did not want to see it walking above my bed anymore and look at me. At that time we did not have a mosquito net yet, so I was afraid it might jump into the bed at night. I'm afraid of rats, too. I can't believe some people keep those disgusting things as pets. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Rat update:
I've placed shovels at strategic locations both inside and outside the house. I've also replaced the lights in the porch where I saw Mr. Rat last night (they had all burned out).
Now, my whole family is in Puerto Rico for a week. They left yesterday morning, so they don't know about the rat. It's my intention that they never find out.
My plan is to get drunk out of my mind each night until the rat makes an appearance. I figure if I'm drunk enough, I won't be scared of no varmint.
Then, it's just a matter of crowing that critter with a shovel.
If I have the guts, I'm going to carry his carcass across the street and throw him into the creek where the frogs hang out.

Or you could place a rat trap somewhere My Legacy

That's a better idea, and it does not preclude me from getting drunk any way.
