I love X3, mostly for its effects, but yeah, The Phoenix getting killed by Wolverine looked very strange to me too. It kills everyting around him, but he can get so close he can kill it.
Wolverine gets knocked out by a bullet, but he can kill the Phoenix
It would have been better when Jean took control over the Phoenix again (if that's possible....i never read the commics)

I didn't mean to frighten you. I guess a part of me is still a little of a comic book geek that can not stand fakeness.

It would have better and way more realistic for Emma Frost to kill Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix. Emma is a high level telepather on the same level as Jean. And unlike Professor X, Cyclops, & Wolverine, Emma would have no regrets in killing Jean in the process. Remember, the X-Men's Emma Frost is not much different from the Hellfire Club's Emma Frost. She really is a total bitch without a cause!
But you see, only veteran comic book readers/geeks would know all of THIS^. Concerning X3, One of the biggest problems with Hollywood script writers is that they don't have enough time to study and understand the history of a comic books in order to make a better realistic film script to reflect a better interpotation of a comic series.

Puh-lease. That bitch don't stay in the dirt. I saw an issue of X-Men a few years ago when the Phoenix Force came back to Earth, and went STRAIGHT to Jean's grave and got her ass lol

She's not named Phoenix for nothing. But in the comics, Phoenix was so out there and so dominant, Jean Grey was for all practical purposes dead and gone. I don't know that Jean Grey was ever able to control Phoenix. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Jean Grey is a mutant born with telepathic and telekinetic powers. Her powers first manifested when she saw her childhood friend being hit by a car. She is a caring, nurturing figure, but she also must deal with being an Omega-level mutant and the physical manifestation of the cosmic Phoenix Force. She faces death numerous times in the history of the series, the first being when, in her guise as Marvel Girl, she dies and is "reborn" as Phoenix, which in time leads to her second - though not last - death in the classic "Dark Phoenix Saga".

Yeah, I thought she'd died more than once. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I'm going 2 check out X- Men Classic. But it's not must see 4 me. Thor had it's moments. Just like Iron man. Hulk is my fav character. I hated the 1st, but the second was descent. Weak ending though. Capt America haven't grabbed me either. But I will see it because I grew up on Marvel Comic books. The one I can't wait 4 is the Avengers movie. I stop reading comics in my teens. I took my son to a comic store a few years ago and stayed a couple of hours reading and getting familiar with todays comics. I started going through this Marvel series called Civil War. I'm praying with the Avengers movie coming out that's the direction their headed!

Did you make it through the entire Civil War story? If you didn't, you should. I didn't like the ending myself, but that's just my opinion. I won't mention it if you never got the chance to finish it. You can always download the series somewhere. That's how I caught up with it.

I dug the villains' suits.
the final battle set seemed cheap. When Zoe hit the ground, I was reminded of a Power Rangers set, for some reason.
SPOILER
I was shocked by the lack of a post-credits extra, too.

SPOILER
I know, right?! About 1/4 of the audience in my theatre sat through the entire credits just to see what came at the very end. There was a collective boo when the screen went black. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

i agree that the timeline is really messing things up cause emma frost was in wolverine as a teenager but in this one she's a adult looking like jane fonda in barberella. and in wolverine prof x is walking not in the wheelchair.
i did like who the trailer suggest it's magneto moving so fast 2 avoid the bullets but it's not magneto doing so. zoe kravits turn 2 the bad side was so quick for me that it truly didn't make sense man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

me too ..i was like THIS IS A MARVEL MOVIE THERE IS MOSTLY ANOTHER SCENE!! lol man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

From the looks of things sounds like XMen suffers from the same inconsistancy troubles that Star Trek does, of I guess the difference is the canon is written as oppose to filmed.

Yeah, Zoe's turn was too soon and made no sense. It was out of nowhere. You would think of all the people to accept Shaw's initial invitation, it would've been Beast and Mystique. Not housefly skripper girl.

Well that's the thing, I don't know the XMen that well so I can't comment on in it that way, but I have noticed in ST that even with TOS there are inconsistancies, and the folks who worked on storylines honestly could careless in a lot of cases, even the diehard fans let some things slide which probably has allowed it to survive so long having not been 100% canon focused. Maybe the makers of XMen are taking a page from that book, jmo.

Can anyone name all of the mutants Cerebro saw in that recruitment scene? I know I saw Storm, but the rest were a blur.

I enjoyed it.
There were low points and high points.
I gave it on the other movie thread.
However, I plan on taking the kids to see it and - without the - I might think differently afterwards. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I liked it. It felt like it was 9 hours long, but I liked it.
I don't really care about the continuity. Marvel and DC don't do much to preserve the continuity of their characters and series, so I don't expect it in movies. As long as the story is good in the movie, that's enough. And this one was pretty good.
My favorite X-Men film is still the first one, though.

X2 was the best! X1 had a great opening, the rest of the film was descent. X3 was a joke! I couldn't wait to see Wolverine, but was extremely disappointed! It was the worst of the X-Men movies. So far the best Marvel movies are BLADE 1, Spider-man 2, & X2. Their improving on the HULK, but still needs lots of work. I support comic book movies because I grew up reading comics, and I want them to continue making these movies. Hopefully they'll get it right! I love me some DC to! The Dark Night is the greatest of all time!

Saw it last night and liked it overall. If I had to rank the movies it would go
X-2 First Class X-Men Tie: X-3 and Wolverine.

That's my exact order as well. Though, I might put X-3 above Wolverine. They both needed a LOT of work, but Wolverine moreso.

I thoroughly enjoyed Fassbender being cast as a young Magneto and even enjoyed McAvoy as a young Professor X even though his constant self-introduction "Charles Xavier" started to get on my nerves. The references to hair color and eye color being mutations weren't really necessary but I get that the audience is supposed remember that mutated genes are Charles' specialty.
Aside from these two characters I found the supporting cast a bit boring. Beast aka Hank was a bore, such a far cry from the loveable nerd on the animated series and he certainly lacked the charm of Kelsey Grammar. The character came off rather disturbing. There was something rather columbineish about him.
Angel, the dude with the hoola hoop laser beams and the brotha that could adapt to anything all lacked interest and history. Even Mystique left me wanting more. The older version of Mystique played by Rebecca Romain showed us that she had a troubled childhood and never fit in and was only ever loved by Magneto. In First Class, she is just some homeless thief of a child who later becomes Charle's play sister. The other movies never suggested any history whatsoever between Charle's and Mystique. Sorry but a relationship that close is not something you just overlook.
I would have preferred to see more of Wolvering and anything about Storm. Guess, I will wait for the next installments.
Fassbender's Magneto became his own worst enemy as played by Kevin Bacon (who was a damn cool mutant). Took his hat, cape and even his woman. How creepy is that? I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer.

in spidey 2 he was exposing himself to much as peter 4 my tastes. and that subway sequence and everyone saying they won't tell, bullshit! lol in this day and age his ass would have been placed all over youtube
dc's problem in movies is that they never fully come with it on the big screen. how many dc characters beside superman and batman have they made? at least with the batman series they introduce other villans, can't say the same about superman. even in the new reboot of superman it's going 2 be general zod, again. man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

agree with the relationship between charles and mystique. never mentioned in the other films and even if they were related, prof x would have mentioned that in the other films. man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I agree with you on just about everything.
The constant "mutation" references bu Charles X are probably meant to remind everyone (ad nauseum) that he's supposed to be brilliant.
Hank (the Beast) was definitely a boring character in the film...his comic book persona is definitely much more lively!
The characters of "hoola hoop" guy (Havoc?), the adaptation guy, and the wrong Angel (seriously...who decided to have a character named Angel in an X-Men movie that's NOT the original blond rich dude with the bird wings???) ...are all disposeable characters.

Yeah, the supporting cast left a lot to be desired. And their backstories were way perverted: First of all, the original team was supposed to be Beast, Angel, Jean, Cyclops and Iceman. But if they had to bring in characters who didn't show up for another 10, 20, 30 or more years, they at least could have done their characters justice. Banshee and Moira MacTaggart are both supposed to be Scottish, with Banshee somewhat older and Moira and Charles a bit sweet on one-another. Havok is not at all supposed to be an X-Man before his brother Cyclops. And Mystique has no history (of which I'm aware) with Charles.
Angel, BTW, isn't so much a movie invention. She's, in fact, a legit character from the books named Angel Salvadore [i.e., "Angel" is not a code name], but she shows up like 40 years after the original team , as does Darwin.
Of the "good guys," I was probably most disappointed by Havok's depiction. For years, I've been imagining what sort of cool things they could do with his trademark white concentric circle motif. I loved the "hoola hoop" idea, but when he fired off his energy, it came off less interesting than even the smoke rings Godzilla Junior spit out. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
