Shyra

I've dated a man who worked for the same institution but in a different department, so we never had to interact professionally. For the most part, I would recommend you not do it unless there is no chance of you working together or you work for a very large employer in different departments. Too many things could go wrong, and some employers don't even allow it.

Quote from the movie "Moonstuck"

Rose Castorini: "Don't shit where you eat!"

or Origin unknown: "Don't make honey where your make money".

reasons.

1. a disagreement could occur and get out of hand

2. co-workers could get involved

3. the relationship could evolve into a sexual harassment claim

4. your work performance could be affected

5. friendly words by him/her to another employee could be misunderstood

6. if there's a breakup it could turn ugly

7. your personal business is at stake of being fodder for office gossip call

no, no, no, "don't do it." be afraid. be very afraid.

but if you do, if you do, keep your mouth zipped and hopefully your love interest will be as wise.

These two...

Rule of thumb, don't ever fuck anyone that doesn't have as much to lose as you.... if you just can't help yourself.

seem like a bad idea to me,unless you actually want to start a serious relationship with them. I met my gf on the job 13 years ago.

But certainly tempting to have a fling with people you work with, yes

Seeing how I've always worked with mostly bitchy women the answer would be no. Have I ever thought about it? Again no, too much drama. shrug

I last saw him in February and I think he would love to see me. I kinda forgot to mention that he is a sex addict.

Yes? No?

Would you do it? Is it dangerous? Are the cons bigger than the pros? Have you already done it?

discuss...

Yup I've messed around at work a few times, but I always proceed with caution before anything jumps off. Speaking from my own experience the pros are much bigger then the cons if you really get to know the person your dealing with before anything sexual takes place, it's saved me alot of unwanted drama doing things that way.

Probably not. I've never worked or heard of anywhere that had that policy.

most major companies discourage employees dating, especially if one is in a supervisory position.

I don't think it's a good idea, but it turns out fine for some. I dated a guy I worked with and we broke up after 1 1/2 years. It was difficult for me. I got another job because for me it was easier to move on if I didn't have to see him on a regular basis. That was about 18 years ago.

As fate would have it, since we are in the same line of work, we ended up not only working together currently, but sharing an office together. But I'm completely over him (married for 15 yrs). Now I see that he is a complete idiot.

there is a difference between discouraging and a policy. I have never seen it as policy.
