Ooooooowwwwweeeeee what's going on with all these damn tornadoes???? I've been living in Texas for 30 years and I've never seen a tornado or as much tornadic and thunderstorm activity in our area as I have these last 2 days. Since Saturday I think I've heard of 10 tornadoes and there are two hitting East Texas right now. At least they stay away from populated areas. Then the house 2 doors down was struck by lightning Sunday night. Mother Nature maaaaaaad.
Anybody seeing this craziness? [Edited 4/26/11 16:28pm]

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning in southern Ellis and northwestern Navarro counties as another batch of severe weather enters North Texas this afternoon. The warning is in effect until 4:15 p.m., and nearly all of North Texas, including Dallas, is under a tornado watch until 10 p.m. The latest storms are coming only a day after half a dozen tornadoes touched down south of Dallas-Fort Worth. “It looks like another pretty active day,” said Ted Ryan of the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. Ryan said Tuesday’s storms are expected to form in the Dallas area in the afternoon and become worse as they move east. The best chance of a tornado will be east of Dallas-Fort Worth. “There’s a pretty good possibility that they’ll be tornadic,” he said. The chance of rain is 30 percent, and the high will be in the mid-80s. Ryan said Monday’s storms spawned about six tornadoes in North Texas, mostly in rural areas in Erath, Somervell, Johnson and Ellis counties. No injuries were reported. One of the twisters touched down in the Ellis County town of Avalon, about 40 miles south of Dallas. It shredded the roof of a school gymnasium tore up at least one home. “Once we knew that the wind picked up and was blowing like 80 mph, shingles started blowing off my shed,” Don Dotson told Channel 8. “We closed the garage door and it looked like it was going to suck the door off, it started shaking real bad.” A tornado also touched down Monday afternoon southwest of Cleburne. Hail accompanied the tornado, which could be seen live on local television around 3 p.m. Tornadoes also touched down near Glen Rose in Somervell County and Itaska in Hill County, Ryan said. Damaging winds also were reported near Palestine in East Texas, about 100 miles southeast of Dallas. Many neighborhoods in the Dallas area also awoke Monday morning to high winds, lightning, rain and, in some cases, hail. But by dawn, those storms had moved to the east. The forecast for the rest of the week calls for at least partly sunny days into midweek, with high temperatures ranging from the upper 70s to the low 80s. High humidity and a lack of strong winds over the next few days should aid emergency crews working to stamp out the wildfires west of Fort Worth.

I was just discussing this with my aunt this morning. She is 77 and she said she has never seen so many tornadoes at one time.

I know! Crazy! Lucky each day my area was spared the worst of it. We got a little rain and that was it. And I have even avoided all but the smallest of sprinkles on my long drive home each day!

I'm sick of them. First there was last New Year's Eve when one was right up the street from me. Then there was about a week or two ago when one came through on the other side of town. And then last night around 2:30 or 3:00 a.m. It wasn't in the area but the power went out and the wind was blowing so hard you would think there was one hitting the place.
43 has always been my unlucky number and I'm 43 years old right now. I'll be glad when September gets here and I turn 44. Andy is a four letter word.

We had one come through our town last week. It ripped up our shopping center and one of our grocery stores pretty bad. The one grocery store is closed down for awhile. Luckily, it was late at night so no one was hurt.

I think it was. I stayed home today because I didn't get any damn sleep last night. I was awakened to hammering and thought a neighbor must have been hanging some pictures. The apartment maintenance man and some workers were working on the roof and I see a little of the overhang of the roof in the building directly across from me is damaged. That was some strong ass wind last night.
I'm looking at TV and we've got four of the damn tornadoes and possible tornadoes going on right now as I type. One of them has me slightly worried a little. But as soon as we get rid of one, another one pops up. It's like the old Atari games when you would shoot one little block down, another one would pop up and they keep coming faster and faster. I blame it on climate change. The temperature is too damn hot/warm in some areas so that's why these states are getting impacted by it so much. It's usually not hot during springtime but for some reason the climate change has become so rapid that we're like getting it back to back. Right now, the central region of my state (NC) has a tornado watch until 8 pm but from the Doppler Radar we may not get the brunt of it. Who knows what will happen tomorrow? One of the weather channels we have said we'll have severe storm activity tomorrow. Who knows if it'll be tornadic or just enough to create lightning, gusty winds, rain and hail.

Man, I'm praying for you guys. These tornadoes are no joke.
I live near (about 20 miles) from where one of the tornadoes hit. I kept praying that none would come my way. I'm thankful none did. [Edited 4/27/11 13:17pm] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

We had a nasty tornado that barely left our part of the city though the northern part was damaged so I know what you mean. I doubt we'll get one tonight (though we still got a watch until 8 so who knows?) and tomorrow's still a question mark but I think NC will escape further damage. However the climate here is still unstable (a sun peaking out during these conditions usually smell potential disaster).

Thanks.
About 30 minutes after I typed that post, the tornado that I was slightly worried about, I became very worried about. It was to the southwest of me in two counties over heading my way. Well, it went through the county I'm in and just now made it out of it. But fortunately, it went through the southern part of the county and I live a little north of that to the far west of the county right across the Pearl River bridge from Jackson. I did learn something new today from watching the news all day, a lot of the time when one tornado forms, another one will form right there in the same area so you have to watch for that second one also.
I did get some entertainment out of it though. The lady on TV that has been on all day reporting the weather would be reading emails and "twitters" whatever the hell a damn twitter is, but she kept saying to people that she is sorry for taking their favorite TV shows off the air but there are tornadoes everywhere. Those folks were pissed that their TV shows weren't on the air. I just wish "American Idol" had been scheduled. I'd love to see that damn show off the air. . . . That same tornado is a mile wide and just slammed through Tuscaloosa, even through the University of Alabama campus. Early reports indicate several dormitories and classroom buildings have been completely demolished.
