Give the Mavs credit for their amazing defense. Miami was clearly bothered by the zone. They could not attack it effectively.

The Mavericks have landed in Dallas, so the Jet IS on the runway. lol

Dirk deplanes first and hoists the trophy for the crowd and Jason Terry is behind him. clapping

Mark Cuban and the Mavs Maniacs walked the trophy up to the chainlink fence where fans are waiting so they could see it. I don't think I've ever seen something like this. thumbs up!

Now Dirk and the other team members are walking along the fence talking to fans and taking turns holding the trophy for the fans to see. Very cool indeed! touched

Memo to LBJ and DWade: IF you must talk shit, this is how you do it, AFTER you win. hah!

Dallas Mavericks guard DeShawn Stevenson let his T-shirt do the trash talking after his team took down the Miami Heat last night -- "HEY LEBRON! HOW'S MY DIRK TASTE."

DeShawn made the fashion statement while celebrating in his hotel room after the game.

Of course, DeShawn was simply making a tweak to the greatest NBA Championship trash talking rap of all time -- when Shaq asked Kobe to, "Tell me how my ass tastes!!"

You live and you learn and I believe they will, but the media will keep the momentum going of spewing hatred towards a team you would have thought commited genocide...it's just entertainment at the end of the day right.

One of the few voices of reason on the topic. I'm die hard Philly too and i watched them

battle the Heat hard particularly in the closeout game. After the game Wade and Bron were

very respectful and complimentary of Doug Collins and they were the same way after their

The hate this team gets is so ridiculous, it's not even funny. I guess the Heat are the first arrogant athletes in history, huh? How dare they have confidence and think that they would win a championship having three of the best players in the league? rolleyes For Lebron to get a tattoo of the O'Brien trophy in October? Who does he think he is?

Oh, wait a minute........

Congrats to the Mavs tho. Considering Dirk couldn't throw the ball in the ocean in the first half, the role players were awesome. JJ "tiny terror" Barea was fantastic, as was Jason Terry. It was great seeing the emotions from the vets after the win last night.

Come on, now. A Lynching? They crowned themselves and America turned on them. They put all the pressure on themselves and have no one but themselves to blame for being hated. I agree the hatred is often clinical, but they set themselves up for it. Then they mocked the guy who punked them, providing extra fuel for their opponents and all who had grown to hate them.

The NBA has been criticized for Swagger Overload since Jordan left. The Heatles exceeded even that level of hype. You could see the weight of the last year hit them like a ton of bricks in the 4th quarter.

I always liked Wade and LBJ. But the blame for the blowback they've gotten starts with them. 2 years ago nobody would have rooted against these guys. If there was no Decision show and no Coronation last summer, people would feel for these cats instead of reveling in their failure.

America has a short memory, though. They've paid their price for their arrogance. If they just shut up and play, they'll win a title and win some lost fans back.

lol You Lebron apologists are too funny.

I've stated repeatedly since the decision in July that all the hate was unfair and sensationalistic. I even said last year that I hoped they got to the finals to shut everybody up. Check my posts in this thread and any other thread about the Heat for the last 11 months.

However, the primary reason the Heat is getting clowned right now, TODAY (by me and most rational people) is for their arrogant, dumb ass antics and subpar performance during the finals with the championship on the line, not for their behavior all season. The criticism is 100% on point and these knuckleheads don't have anyone to blame but themselves. And if none of you can objectively look a their behavior DURING the finals and see that they were out of order, oh well. Who got the ring? The guy who had the LEAST to say. shrug

No one said that all teams don't talk trash. BUT on what planet is it "reasonable" for the most scrutinized team in the NBA EVER to talk trash while letting their shot at the championship slip through their fingers? If you're struggling against a team, ain't backing up your talk with your play, and facing a player who's dominated the playoffs should your priority really be talking shit??? If you exhibit this kinda juvenile behavior with so much on the line clearly you are not focused or mature.

And I would say the same thing no matter who it was or who they were playing. hammer

The ridiculous hate is the reason why I cheered for them to win in the finals. Any fucking move they make they get criticized. The pre-season concert they had was wrong? Miami did the same thing years ago when they got Shaq and nobody said shit. Dwayne holding his arm up in the 4th q in game 2 was wrong? Whenever Terry makes a big play, he does the "airplane dance" and Stevenson holds his arm up too after sinking a big three. They get criticized for shit damn near every ball player does. The Heat are wrong for talking big? Terry gets a tattoo of the O'Brien trophy before his team won shit. Dwayne and Lebron are wrong for "mocking" Dirk? Terry tells Lebron "COME AT ME BITCH" and Stevenson says that he basically bitched out after game 3.

But I guess somebody has to be the villian. shrug

There are as many False Next MJ's as there are False Prophets. You're absolutely right the media has built LBJ up as the next MJ when he hasn't even been the Next Kobe.

But he's bought into it. Other players say he refers to himself as "King James." His handlers have done him terribly at times, talking him into The Decision. He's earned hundreds of millions of dollars from the free publicity. He should take much more than 5% of the blame.

But again, I think last night was the price to pay for all the hubris. If they come back with the right mindset, and play, they'll earn fans back.

lol Last night, Rachel Nichols reported that in the Heat locker rooms, robes are hung up in each player's locker. However, in Lebron's robe the label that usually shows the size (S, M, L) says "King." I guess the media changed the size in his robe.

Regardless of LBJ and the Heat showing their asses in the finals, I'm tired of the Cavs owners, their fans, and now even the governor's whining about Lebron leaving. These muhhfuckas are petty as hell and also need to shut the hell up. talk to the hand

Ohio Governor John Kasich Declares Dallas Mavericks 'Honorary Ohioans'

Revenge for "The Decision" now bears an executive seal.

John Kasich, Governor of the state of Ohio, took the unusual step of honoring a team with no geographical ties to his jurisdiction. On Monday, one day after the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA Finals, Kasich's office released a press release noting that the governor had issued a resolution that declared that the Mavericks, their friends, family and fans are now officially "Honorary Ohioans."

Why would he do this? Retribution, of course.

The Heat were led by Ohio native former Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James, who opted to take his talents to South Beach last summer rather than return to play for the Cavaliers. In return, fans in Ohio booed him mercilessly during his two return visits to Cleveland and openly rooted for the Heat to get bounced from the playoffs.

The resolution specifically praises Dallas' "loyalty, integrity and teamwork" and specifically praises Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki for choosing to re-sign with the Mavericks last summer. Kasich's resolution bears the official seal of Ohio, bestows upon the Mavericks "all privileges and honors" that goes with the title "Honorary Ohioans" and is signed at the bottom.

You know who definitely finds this hilarious and awesome? Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, who issued his own decree on Sunday night.

Below is a small version of the official resolution. Click here to read the whole thing.

Speaking of someone who needs to shut his mouth about LeBron James, I could go on all day about Gov. John Kasich and his sorry ass, but that belongs in a different forum.

As for the owner of the Cavaliers, he really shouldn't be talking smack either. He had the opportunity to draft players or get some free agents to support LeBron James while he was still in Cleveland but didn't do it. Had he made some effiorts himself to get some key free agents, LeBron might still be in Cleveland right now.

As for the hate, I don't think people hate the Heat or the big three because they're a bunch of assholes; I think they're all good guys, but they acted like a bunch of prima donnas who thought they were going to be anointed the NBA title like they were the basketball version of the New York Yankees. It was that attitude that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Thank you.

While others have the nerve speak of people talking nonsense, I've heard an equal amount of sillyness. No one who's posted here has spoken of James in relations to lynching, murder, or terrorism. What folks have spoken to is the lackadaisical play of the Heat and specifically James when he was needed the most. Bosch, James and Wade walked out of the puffs of smoke at the being of the season claiming championships / rings were on there way, starting THIS season... not the press, not the fans, and not the haters. Some appear to have selective hearing, eyesight and memories. In game six did you not see James walking around like a tourist on his own home court rather than play defense? Game six at home in the best of 7 series. Trash talking goes both ways and if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Better yet, just win.....

My opinion of the Heats media coverage was just ridiculous.....in my opinion it was like viewing a lynching....the opinions of the org was not in my comment anywhere....the words are strong but it's exactly how I saw it. They lost and will have to go lick their wounds and so be it.....but when will the media coverage cease....we tend to beat the dead horse way too long on the dumb shit.
