From the looks of it you could tell that something was holding that meat together when it was raw, even the chicken.
I'm glad I don't eat red meat like that and I'm that close to not eating meat all together. [Edited 5/24/11 16:14pm] surviving on the thought of loving you, it's just like the water

I know. They said that it's used on chicken and fish too but you could so tell the different between regular cut boneless chicken and a glued together piece. I don't know how people can't see the difference. surviving on the thought of loving you, it's just like the water

And this is the kind of reason why I don't eat meat anymore. I do nothing professionally. I only do things for fun. johnart: Acrylic's old bras is where tits of all sizes go to frolic after they die. Tit Heaven.

Hmm....I did a little more research, and I found out that this practice of using meat glue seems to be more in use in Australia, and most of Asia, particularly Japan and China. They use them in emulsified fish balls and surimi (gelatinous seafood loaves).
Meat glue, or Transglutaminase, is approved for use in the US and Canada. But in Canada, meat manufacturers are required by law to list it on their products if it is used to season or process any food product. TG itself is "nutritionally benign" (according to researchers at the University of British Columbia).

Your best bet, I'd say, is to buy local meat from local farmers if you are questioning the supermarket. Or go vegetarian.

it doesn't seem as dramatic t ome as te guy was making it out to be. It's DEFINATELY misleading, but nothing more than that. The dispursment of germs into meat also happes just as heavily, if not mor, in processing ground beef. That is where the dager lies, Just cook it right and handle correctly, u should be alright and will die s from the stroke or heart attack u're saving up for, long befor any food-born illness.

or more commonly known as 'pink slime'. It's in all your store bought ground beef, chicken, pork and turkey. Best to go to a reputable butcher and ask if he/she adds anything to it.
Next time you order a burger out - just ask them for an order of 'pink slime' - cause that's what you're eating.
