It's a total disgrace to know that some of my fellow orgers really don't give a damn about the health and safely of their favorite porn/adult film stars. neutral

Never mind the fact that the adult film industry are the blame for not obeying the health codes that were in the California State law books for years.

The performers should give a damn themselves. No one makes them do tis crap. If they wanna make condom demands...they can, why should the state mandate it. Crazy.

It's to consenting adults doing things they've agreed upon.

I care about Alexis Texas' health(to a small degree...cuz I want her to keep making movies for as long as she wants). I'm sure she does to and takes appropriate actions to avoid disease. Get fellow performers that are tested as well as testing herself. jeesh. If she don't want a condom invold, she don't want it.

Deep down, the performers AND the state lawmakers know damn good and well that the film production companies are the ones that are telling their performers to not use protections at all, plain and simple.

If or when a female performer tells a film director that she will not do certain scenes unless protections are involved, that film director is most likely to have that female performer fired immediately and replace with someone else.

Very, very true, that's why some are calling on the state / federal goverment to implement mandatory regulations and/or laws.

Let me also say this....

The argument put forth that workers in the Porn Industry knowingly and willfully have chosen a profession with inherent health risk hence they should shoulder all responsiblity for such risk, is silly. I'll repeat this isn't a right to work issue nor is this about individuals making personal choices about what risk they are willing to accept on a JOB: this is a public health issue and yes, it's a work related health / saftey issue.

We have several US goverment safety and health agencies who implement and enforce laws to protect workers . For example, being a coal mine worker has some inherent risk; coal mining companies can't justify those inherent risks for not having any guidelines and procedures to protect their workers. Car manufactures have to meet goverment saftey guildlines before their cars are allowed on the road. GM can't build and put a piece of shit on the road and then claim afterwards the consumer made a choice to purchase a car knowing it was unsafe.

As Tony mentioned the porn industry has never followed the rudimentary health code laws of Cali. That's why some are now calling on state / federal goverment to draft guidlines / laws to protect the health and saftey of actors and actresses in the porn movie industry.

[Edited 5/29/11 18:06pm]

the had the same meeting the year b4 about this same topic.

should porn performers wear condoms. probably...better safe than sorry.

My argument is that there is NO legal way to force condoms to be worn. Suggestions are about as far as they get. It is not legal to force 2 consenting adults to wear condoms. If it's implimented, all a performer has to do is make "amature" porn. They can't force the industry out of distributing condom-less porn either, that's a first amendmet issue.

The ONLY way condom-only porn can happen is if EVERY single performer checks yes on that box...even then it'ds merely voluntary.

Tell me, how woulld one go about enforcing condom-only porn?

edit: they are federal AND state governments. They are NOT allowed to infringe on someone civil liberties.
