My best friend and I have this discussion alot. I believe people are good for the most part and she says they are bad. My husband and I own our own company so I'm not around the general public on a day to day basis as I work from home but my friend works at a big company in Customer Service and she says that almost everyone is either on drugs, sleeping around, cheating on their mate or has a meth lab in their basement. We argue this quiete a bit. What do you guys think?

This evening, I sat in at a jam session with our church's worship leader. We played the usual Baptist stuff - i.e., kinda lame. But this one song sounded familiar. I knew I'd heard this chord progression before, but in a different key. Hmmm, what is it?

I know! It's "Purple Rain"!

So I started playing the solo underneath the singer's melody. You know, the "doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo-DOOT!" part. It sounded really good.

My buddy next to me knew what it was, and started laughing, but no one else caught on. But it sure sounded good in that song.

So I don't know if that makes me good or bad.

when you want it the most... dont give on faith loves comes to those who believe.. ands that the way. i am horribly naive and i think all people are good. althoight i think good and bad arent necessary real. i think human behavior is very confusing.. and there is no map..

"Good"/"bad?" I'm inclined to think neither. But I'm not persuaded by blank slate theories either.

I rather think people have an innate self-centeredness, which, depending on how they learn to reconcile it with concern for the well-being of people and things beyond themselves, can pan out in productive or destructive ways.

My answer to this usually depends on my mood at the moment I'm asked this question.

I do know this: Your life will be infinitely better if you treat everyone you meet as if they have good intentions toward you.

Most people are generally good but sometimes do bad things.

IMO, 95% of human beings are born to be good.

Then, depending on our upbringing, our circumstances, our experiences in life...we then become either inherently "good" or "bad" adults.

Then there's the 5% (I'm just pulling that number out of my :ass: but you know what I mean) who are just BORN BAD. The natural psycopaths, the kids who at a very young age already show no empathy or compassion, who can lie without remorse, and take delight in torturing other beings. I assume that in ancent times, those individuals would either get killed off early or become the outcasts, the hermits, the monsters living in caves kidnapping unattended children and livestock, but nowadays we just stick them in jails or mental wards.

makes me wonder, if we all have a penchant to do the same things criminal minds do, just on a lesser scale...

Most people are gerenally good, but most "bad" people are usually misunderstood good people also.

right after I posted this question my husband was carjacked at gunpoint. But then tornados swept through our town and it was inspiring the way people came together to help one another and do nice things so I think the good people outweigh the bad
