The kid will know what gender it is...while he/she is young and most impressionable they are not going to define their child by gender.

I understand what they are trying to do...and even if they are trying to keep the outside influences of gender roles at bay, keeping it's sex a secret is pretty stupid.

But the kid wouldn't even be in that situation because they are something called "unschoolers" so it won't even go to school...that's more damaging, imo.

Agreed.

Not telling people what gender their child is to keep others from ascribing traditional gender roles on their child is interesting and certainly a bit out there but not ultimately damaging.

Keeping their children home from school and letting them make decisions they aren’t informed nor mature enough to make is highly suspect.

I understand their idea of questioning gender and I find some of their ideas fascinating but keeping children from education is harmful and damaging. I wouldn’t want my child to be part of such an experiment.

And that's all this is...AN EXPERIMENT. The child is being used as a guinea pig and that is terribly sad.

I don't think this is even an experiment. They just didn't tell anyone whether the child has a penis or a vagina. They're still raising it like you would any other baby. Besides, some people aren't a boy or a girl anyway. Intersexed people do exist in this world (including my uncle who has an extra female chromosome causing breasts, hips, etc.)

I'm so sick of all this politically correct kooky bulls&%$- A boy is a boy, a girl is a girl. PERIOD. These poor kids coming up today are going to be so confused. If a girl goes through a tomboy phase at 3, in this day and age, her dumbass parents are going to scoop her up, run to the doctor to see how fast she can get a testosterone shot, buy her a bunch of boy clothes and tell her kindergarden classmates to call her "Johnny". Then when she's over the phase the poor little girl's going to look around and say, "What the f&%$ is going on? Where's my hair? Why am I dressed like my brother?"

The child should be the one deciding who he/she wants to be when he/she grows up. This is just as bad as outside people forcing the male/female stereotypes on the child.

Why hide the babie's gender from grandparents and friends? I mean what are they going to do when diaper changing is needed? Tell everyone to look away? lol

That's exactly what they're allowing by the sounds of it. So you agree that the basic premise is not such a bad idea then?

The story sounds like freedom of a human being to grow up and be the person they want to be, devoid of sexual stereotypes early in their life. Don't see a problem.

The kid may end up being a rockstar laying different women night after night or a scientist curing diseases, no one knows. All that is irrelevant to an infant.

The gender will probably be revealed within the next week anyway, it's mighty hard for humans to keep secrets.

Much ado about NOTHING.

It's confusing. lol

I'm guessing that it's best for the child than the parents but who knows? If no one else is confused by it more power to them. lol

But I'm guessing if they know the gender is trans, then cool. Like I said, it's confusing the way it's written.

I don't think this is that weird really. There's not much difference between a baby girl and a baby boy. They both shit themselves and play with blocks. I think it bothers people because we are conditioned to treat people based on whatever sex we assume they are. People don't know how to react around this baby since they don't know what it is. It just shows how insane our world is.

The next time you see someone interacting with a litle baby, notice all of the gender traits that are ascribed. If a baby boy smiles at an adult female, he's flirting. If he smiles at an adult male, he's just smiling. From the day of birth we mold our children into what we want them to be. That's why every little 3 year old girl has pig tails. We're telling them that girls should have long hair.

I mean technically, we don't know what anyone is because we can't see their sex organs.

Insane our world is? sure..it can be insane but...not because we acknowledge there is a difference between men and women.

Is it really so wrong to admit that men and women are indeed different?

Besides from men having dicks, women having tits and pussy, standing up to piss, sitting down to piss/fart, what is really different?

Even our hormones can be similar. For some reason I don't think we're too different but I think we've created that separation.

THING is, even if a gender is "chosen", the CHILD themselves is gonna decide for themselves what they're going to do. In hindsight it can look like parents are trying to be "helpful" but then I think the child would decide for themselves what they like. It doesn't always gotta do with what gender they're gonna be. Boys play with dolls and girls will play with trucks. Some boys play hula hoop and jump rope, some girls play basketball and football. Some men and even boys crossdress, same with women/girls. I just hope their minds are at the RIGHT place, that's all.

I'd rather they be more blunt if that was the case.

Yeah I guess I'm in a mixed bag because I want to go "right on" but there's always that other side saying "they're just doing this for publicity". neutral shrug I just hope the kid is happy whatever happens down the line though...
