Seems like the guy in all likelyhood had issues to begin with and military trauma exacerbated it.

I am not gonna defend this dude but I will say that anyone on this thread who claims that PTSD can not insight strange behavior such as this is dead wrong.

My best friend is suffering from PTSD and his "trigger" or what insights rage in him is such an odd and unique circumstance that most people wouldn't believe me if I explained it. It's not anything sexual but I wouldn't be surprised that PTSD is causing our soldiers to do things such as this.

Again, not trying to defend this guy but just wanting to let you all know that you might want to rethink your opinion on PTSD. We are training our patriots to be killers. They are seeing and experience the worst things out there. The culture of military discourage soldiers from admitting they have mental illness as a result of their fighting. Our judges and DA's fear their re-elections so when these things go to court, the soldiers get thrown in jail and nothing is changed. Our soldiers deserve better.

Just to play devil's advocate, he is not claiming to be healthy. He is admitting to being fucked up.

Of course, that means he should not be self-medicating with child porn and mutilation pics.

But maybe...he should not go to jail but be put in some intense therapy, separated from his wife & kids since he said he might kill them.

I do agree with supa, soldiers deserve better, and we should expect them to have some negative repercussions from war.
