Arnold IMHO was a marginal bodybuilder, very marginal actor and REAL marginal politician (and I hate politics in general so that's saying a lot lol ).

lol I don't know about that! He did win Mr Olympia like 7 or 8 times

nod

Just google "Best Bodybuilder Ever" and Arnold's name pops up dozens of times.

According to one of his competitors, Arnold cheated or something, at least according to him during one of the Mr. Olympia contests. lol

Sore loser.

Arnold never cheated, so far as I know.

There was some controversy once, when Arnold was a very-last-minute entry into Mr. Olympia. He'd been filming a movie earlier that year, and no one thought he was going to compete.

But Arnold being Arnold, he would go to the gym at 3 AM and work out while no one was there. Only the owner of Gold's Gym knew about this.

And Arnold being Arnold, he'd leave these massive amounts of plates on the bars. The other bodybuilders would show up in the morning and go, "Who the %$^&%$ is strong enough to be lifting this much?!?"

I have no doubt that the surprise of Arnold in that competition may have given him some extra points in the minds of the judges, but he didn't cheat.

You sometimes hear about those guys who lead lives with two families, this deception is one step shy of that.

precisely why this could be really hard to forgive. infidelity is one thing but this kind of lie for so long is just rotten. there could hardly be trust after that could there?

No, I think I have to differentiate between it and "integrity".

I'm curious after your presentation!

What are your examples of people who are a success; in the way that they are very good at communicating and convincing others that they conquer other people?

Because I think success can be a very versatile construct. Being very good at conquering others is not my definition of success. In the thread about the bees, Paintedlady for me is the definition of success.

Who is successful by American standards (lot of money, beaten everybody else to it, polishing an (false) image, artificial beauty by botox/ surgery) and at the same time is intergre by the majorities' accepted standards?

Can a rich person keep his/her integrity? Can anybody who has integrity become rich?

i don't equate wealth with success. (fortunately for me big grin)

imo integrity and good character are traits a 'successful' person has, in life.

No wonder he was such a horrible governor. He was obviously "distracted" rolleyes

Was he really that bad? I thought he was extremely popular during his first year and there wasn´t really much that he could do later on. I´m not a fan but I thought that he was comparatively progressive and open minded for a Republican ( his stance on gays, the environment and alternative energies were not what you´d expect from a Republican).

So, where did he go wrong? I mean, he inherited a lot of debt from Davis, right? Can´t really put the blame on him only.

Any Californian orgers who could enlighten me a bit? Supa and Suprman maybe?

Thanks in advance.

The problem in California wasn't Gray Davis or Arnold.

Blaming the governor is deflecting criticism from those who have driven the state to ruin.

The voters.

California voters vote for party extremists, who until term limits towed the hard line to perpetuate their election. When seven Republicans voted for Schwarzenegger's budget in the House, they were publicly cursed as 'traitors,' and there were party calls for their recall. Republicans in the Senate stuck to the party line and defeated the budget. The next vote of course, went as expected and since it takes 2/3 of each house of the state Legislature to pass a budget, Republicans grandstand on 'no new taxes,' and restoring California's competitive business environment.

California's voters have locked up roughly 70% of the budget. Which leads to ballot initiatives like one defeated two years ago in which the prison's union tried to get voters to lock in their pay including benefits and guarantee it (even if the state couldn't afford it.)

The Governor of California can't touch 70% of the budget. But the Governor gets blamed.

Of course, no one wants to pay more taxes. But California can't afford to pay for its voter mandated obligations.

California badly needs a value added tax and an increase in property tax.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

he certainly was successful, but I would not say he reached the absolute pinnacle in acting or politics

he was the most successful movie star for a good while, he has never been a successful "actor"

and the President would be the absolute pinnacle, though he got as high as he could without being born in the US

But to me he wasted taxpayer money to recall a governor that had just been re-elected. Ridiculous. I blame the voters for that as well as electing him at all with no track record. Dumbass americans

But again, no I can't deny that he is insanely successful and driven.

I say he did in acting, because he was the biggest box-office draw for 10 years. Financially, that's the pinnacle. He wasn't the greatest actor of all time, but in his prime he made more money and sold more tickets than anyone before him.

He certainly did in politics, for he went as high as he could possibly go as a leader. He cannot be president, so the next highest office would be governor of the largest state, which he was.

Alaska and Texas are larger, California is the most populous.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

OMG TMZ posted her pic

Arnold's Love Child -- Spitting Image

TMZ has obtained lots of information -- as well as photos -- of the boy Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered out of wedlock -- and he looks shockingly like Arnold himself.

0517_arnold_child_ex_mosaic_1

The mother -- Mildred Patricia Baena (she goes by Patty) -- was a housekeeper/assistant for the family for more than 20 years. Her jobs included cleaning, laundry, cooking and other chores.

Sources tell TMZ -- in the late 90's Patty began to "pursue Arnold." She told friends they would have unprotected sex during the day at the house. Patty never slept overnight at the house and no one ever caught them in the act.

We're told when she became pregnant, she didn't tell Arnold he was the father. Arnold didn't learn he was the daddy until the boy was a toddler.

Patty -- who made $1,200 a week -- was treated well by Arnold once he found out. Sources say Arnold was always "generous."

Patty -- who has recently retired -- now lives in a 4 bedroom house with a pool, several hours outside of L.A. with the boy and her 3 other kids.

We are not revealing the identity of the boy, however his features are eerily like Arnold's. We have various pictures of him at various ages (he's now 10 or 11) and each picture shows striking similarities, especially the mouth and teeth.
