Yeah, I do still play - hell, I was playing Grand Theft Auto IV last night and earlier today lol . Not as much as I did when I was younger, not that many of the newer games catch my attention. Plus, it's a pricing issue too - games are so expensive, I've pretty much been priced out of the hobby other than playing whatever games my brother buys and brings into the house.

I love the Grand Theft Auto franchise; the Resident Evil/Biohazard franchise; Mario Kart games; Kameo : Elements of Power ; Eternal Darkness : Sanity's Requiem ; old-school stuff like Bubble Bobble and Super Mario Bros., etc.

What about GTA IV: The Lost and Damned?

Hey UptownNY wink I know you´re a hardcore GTA fan, and maybe we should dedicate a thread to that game real soon.

I love the GTA series but for some reason, The Lost and the Damned was not really my thing. Don´t know what it is but I don´t really like the atmosphere, with the bikers and all, the music, the fucked up place where Johnny was staying, the biker bar etc.

It is a great game with fantastic gameplay and an interesting storyline but I was glad when I finished it and I don´t really look back. GTAIV and Gay Tony are a different thing though...I really miss being Niko Bellic, that guy and his friends, especially Little Jacob and Patrick became dear friends of mine and the storyline and dialogues were unbelievably good.

I also enjoyed The Ballad of Gay Tony immensely. Funny dialogues, interesting storyline, great characters, and all in all a feelgood game, especially because of the nice vehicles and weapons and the club scene...loved it!

But, all in all, I´m quite happy that I own The Lost and the Damned and I´m glad I played it because I love how the three storylines intertwine. It all makes a lot more sense when you play all three games. And the weapons and motorbikes were cool, too, but like I said, I´m not really into the biker scene, probably because I know people in the biker scene and I don´t really like that subculture. I found the game Lost and the Damned a tad too realistic, which is actually a good thing as far as games are concerned.

By the way.....did you get what really happened with the diamonds? I mean, Louis kinda dropped them, and then the bum found them and got rich, right? But then again, Niko lost them also and they ended up on some dump. I´m getting a bit confused here, been a long time. I think there were a few plotholes regarding the diamonds, right?

I'm not a fan of the biker subculture or that awful death metal garbage, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the game. With TLAD you get to use cool bikes and better weapons than GTAIV. Elizabeta's missions were the best. That was one stone-cold bitch. She had a tight operation until N.O.O.S.E. took her down.

In the opening cutscene for GTAIV, you see the cook in possession of the diamonds, which he stole from the vicious Russian crime lord Ray Bulgarin. The cook was about to sell them to Tony and Luis until the Lost showed up and stole them on orders from Ray Boccino(TLAD mission, "Diamonds in the Rough' and BoGT mission, 'Frosting on the Cake'). During the deal at the museum(GTAIV mission 'Museum Piece', TLAD mission 'Collector's Item, BoGT mission 'Not So Fast'), Luis hijacked them from Niko and Johnny, but he and Tony had to swap them for the kidnapped Gracie. As Tony and Luis were making the exchange with Niko and Packie(GTAIV mission 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend', BoGT mission 'Ladies Half Price'), the true owner of the diamonds, Bulgarin, shows up and all hell breaks loose. During the gunfight, the diamonds are thrown in a dump truck. So nobody won.

Next to Mortal Kombat, GTA is my favorite gaming series. Can't get enough of them. I play the GTA III-era games as much as the GTA IV group. For me, san Andreas is still the kingof GTA. It has everything - great characters, great map, great storyline, the ability to customize your character and a killer soundtrack.

If you really want some fun, play the GTAIV, TLAD and BoGT missions in chronological order.

No I don't and never have.

I know many couples who's marriages and relationships are on the rocks because of excessive gaming. My closest friend is on the brink of separation because her husband can't stop and her oldest kid is the same.

I don't understand why anyone would want to spend hours a day playing this crap. It's a complete waste of time. People should be talking, reading, playing with their kids, doing something around the house, having sex rather than wasting precious time on gaming. Just my opinion, but I've seen how damaging it can be.

[Edited 5/17/11 9:56am]

Your reasoning is bullshit.

I know lots of people whose marriages and relationships are on the rocks because of alcoholism. That doesn't mean every person who enjoys a drink is "wasting their precious time."

If, for example, this was a thread about favorite beers, I wouldn't come in here pissing all over everyone who enjoys beer just because there are people around who abuse or have a problem with alcohol.

So...

It's what you make it.

giggle Thanks. smile He would have to enjoy gaming and playing with me, or it wouldn't work anyway. lol

I think, in certain cases, if non-gamer gals with gamer-dudes would try to play sometimes instead of automatically detesting video games, they may discover just how fun gaming can be. Especially what I call "movie-style games," like the Uncharted, GTA, or Hitman series, for example. I call them that 'cause it's like you're controlling the roles of characters in actual movies, which I think would be super-fun playing close with your guy. And all the while you could take-turns playing, talk, laugh, hug, eat snack foods, etc, together. Just an ideal vision of mine. lol

I've never really been into videogames, even when I was a kid. Got bored of them quickly and just played outside instead. cool

I have started using the wii fit though. Quit my gym membership last year because it was a waste of money for the amount of time I was there, and as I don't actually need to lose weight, just tone up, thought I might as well have a go.

The plan is to do an hour a day Monday to Friday for the next 2 months, burning 250 callories per day, to see if you can actually tone up using it.

So far, so good, 2 weeks in, lost 4lb and my abs are killing me from the hula hoop game. Hurts just the same as when I used to do crunches, already noticed a difference. The only negative is that you feel a bit of a dick, but hey, who else knows apart from me and hundreds of strangers on an online forum?

wink

My husband is an excessive gamer, and I used to get annoyed with it, but that was because I didn't understand it and he'd stay up all night playing then sleep all day. I told him about it and he cut back. He still has all night binges once in a while but now he knows that even though he's been up all night, he still has to get up in the morning.

But yeah, him and his friends take it all VERRRRRYYYYYYY seriously. They text and plan strategies before they get on and I leave him alone when he's on playing. lol As long as he doesn't skimp out on his responsibilities I'm fine with it.
