You're dad is a brave man! Now see.... the bumblebees that are by my mom's house are fat and slow... they are considered aggressive supposedly, but they never swarm and if you blow on them gently they fly away from your face if they get too close. But the samller, faster bees
Funny you mention Harvard... the Arboretum School of Design (its one of the Harvard extension programs) is already connected with the fruit tree project . Thankfully Boston is a small enough city where people intersect and run in similar circles... so people tend to know someone you are working with already. The green industry in Boston is a closely knit bunch of professionals, and because of all the revitalization and construction most of these people tend to have worked with eachother. The woman who is helping me has contacts in the mayor's office and I am in contact with a few people that have connections with some of the older schools (Boston College, and the Divinity schools) that take care of the small historic cemetaries in the areas.
I am online right now, shopping for more plants to fill the spaces I am re-planting in. Its rainy here all week... so the phone banking and contacting these folks has been easy. Things are starting to fall into place.

Yes. I would have never imagined to be so thrilled by a threat about Boston Bees on PRINCE forum.
to both of you. Paintedlady, it does all come together doesn't it? Will you keep us posted? And cherish your first jar of honey?
You are aware of a beekeepers outfit, right? Will you post a picture in your atronaut's bee outfit?

well I hate bugs....bees included (I was just stung in the bellybutton..of all places by a hornet last week) but I don't want to see them go extinct...that's for sure.
hmm...this reminds me....we've lived in our house going on 12 years now and we have hornets that can't fly...every year I see them crawling around....but not flying. weird....always wonder why it is these hornets don't fly. "not a fan" yeah...ok

We need to protect the bees...they are vital for pollination, without them we wouldn't have plants or flowers or food. You wouldn't be saying you don't like them then!
There is also an issue with small mites that have also caused problems for bees but i also heard Wi-Fi may be partly responsible.
At any rate, this needs investigation and solving!

So..when I'm online on my mobile phone, does it mean I'm a bee-slaughter? You are pure, you are snow.
We are the useless sluts that they mould.

Actually Chris...the loss of bees means the loss of agricultural plantlife that we depend on (most of our fruits & veggies depend on bees for pollination).
If bees went extinct, we would lose much of our agriculture (and go hungry).
But there's plenty of other plantlife that doesn't depend on bees for reproduction, and would actually welcome our extinction so that they can re-conquer the vast woodlands and jungles which we have killed in order to plant bee-dependant crops.
