General safety aside, that's why you're encouraged to remain in your assigned seats with belts fastened. There's a seat number printed/ rivited under each seat. Recovery teams compare the passenger manifest to the buckled up corpses as a first stage of the identification process.

Gruesome I'll admit (and it doesn't work for Southwest or any other 'general seating' craft) but contingency planning at it's finest nonetheless...
